1. Government doesn't have to be in charge of everything (or foot the bill), sometimes the private sector can do a good job if not better.

mccain's defense of small town mayors was a bit lame, but that isn't the point.  the point is that she is currently the sitting governor of a state.  but no one seems to want to talk about that.  I find that peculiar.

he did much better with volunteerism, and how gov't can't do everything for everyone.  he left how how no one should want government to do everything for you, because when government pays the bills, government calls the shots and makes the decisions.  and THAT is a loss of individual liberty, even if it is for allegedly "compassionate" or "benevolent" reasons.

a loss of liberty is a loss of liberty.

I find the editor of time to be much more condescending and ridiculous.  but I viewed him with bottomless contempt before this show came on.

of course.  break out the no-doz.  this guy can't say "good morning" without it taking 20 minutes and making a half dozen qualifications and exceptions to the relative goodness of the morning.

this is the cheapest, vilest kind of monday morning quarterbacking.  it's easy to say what he would have done after 9/11 if he was president SEVEN YEARS AFTER THE FACT.  hell, he would have curled up in the corner and sobbed.

oh, and the proper course of action after 9/11 is almost precisely the same as the vague outlines that exist of his smattering of generalized policy ideas.  funny how that worked out, huh?

LOL!  one of the questioners just challenged him for specifics, and immediately after saying, "no what would you do, but HOW would you do it", she said, "we have under a minute left".

and then he said nothing at all for 48 seconds.

I notice the level of inquisitiveness has changed.  No..."But is america better than other countries....???" that was asked 3 times of McCain.  Barrack said "America is the greatest country in the world" but no clarification needed by him.

Not everyone is eligible for the United Negro Fund, Barrack.  I currently have no kids, my taxes pay for elementary, middle and highschool.  Why should I foot the bill for college too?  I paid for my education and worked a full time job to make ends meet.  Why should other's get a free pass...it CAN BE DONE with hard work and determination.

now he is mobilizing seniors.  ah, but the key is to have an inspiring president.  it always comes back to that with him, doesn't it?  "How will all this work, senator obama"?  "I will inspire it forth."

I forget how many billions he budgeted for AIDS research every year, and foreign assistance for AIDS in africa.  it was a jaw dropping number.

I thought it was 300 billion we sent to Africa.  That number sticks out in my mind.

Hearing him talk about the WWII generation... why does it feel like hearing a witch recite The Lord's Prayer?
