Seriously, will there be any penalty for The Heckler?

So his opponent got money -- his backers will just dig deep because "he told the truth."

The other Republicans might "pretend" public outrage, but honestly, there will probably be back slapping in private.

He told his version of the truth. He believes Obama is a LIAR.

Well, I believe Junior is a Psycopath who should have been Tarred and Feathered before being Hung for Treason, and seriously, who cares?

So he brought "civil" to a new low -- who expected differently from a Republican?

Seems like a tempest in a teapot to me. Its not like there are people in Washington who can make him regret anything.

I mean, just because Democrats control the Presidency, the House and the Senate -- it isn't like there will be any CONSEQUENCES.

At least not that I've ever heard about.

Now, if the Republicans were in charge, he'd be quaking under his desk, awaiting a visit from the IRS and afraid of the Postal Service.

But these are Democrats, and frankly, they seem wimpy to me, which is odd, seeing as how Obama came of age in (what I always thought) was the rough-and-tumble world of Chicago politics.

1. We're working on it for the next election cycle.

Hmmm.  I dunno.  We'll see how it goes.

5. You would have been trying to get rid of him regardless, right?

So, seriously, that isn't a penalty.

8. Sigh. I suspect the extra $120,000 that Miller has raised in the last 12 hours...

and growing, massively evening the playing field on which Miller *barely* lost last time, despite being outspent 2:1, makes for a very different situation.

2. Financial: He'll have to spend a lot more to hold onto his seat... *IF* he holds on

His opponent just quadrupled his war chest.

Joe Wilson will have to raise a buttload more cash to hold on.

At a bare minimum, that's money that is NOT going to another Republican candidate.

6. And he gets how much money from the insurance companies?

A hundred grand is nothing to these folks. Its a temporary story.

3. Probably a public reprimand, maybe a censure

From the look on her face when it happened, Nancy Pelosi seemed to know immediately that the outburst came from one of her charges in the House. The direct affront, of course, was to the President and his office. The indirect affront was to the dignity of the House of Representatives. These people take that kind of stuff very seriously. While the penalty doesn't look too bad from our perspective, Rep. Wilson will lose some major prestige and respect among his colleagues, and the pecking order is a very important consideration for these preeners.

I wish the worst thing I can on Rep. Wilson: That some time in the very near future (by Halloween, let's say), he needs to ask a favor from the White House, and Rahm Emanuel picks up his call.

7. Do you really believe Nancy Peolosi "impeachment is off the table" is actually going to DO SOMETHING?

He might get snubbed a bit by the folks who are on the opposite side. Then they'll need him for something, and its back to business as usual.

Being civil and all.

11. Well, lying us into two ruinous wars is one thing

But this has some personal ramifications for Pelosi, and she doesn't impress me as the type to shrug off personal affronts. We'll see, there may be nothing, but I'll stick with my prediction of a public reprimand for "conduct injurious to the dignity of the House of Representatives" or some other such locutional folderol.

4. The fact he's now permanently tagged "The Hecker" is pretty sweet.

9. His reputation is ruined except with the BATSHIT CRAZIES (15% of the population)

I see no need to "Martyr" him to that crowd with a censure.

I am starting to understand that there are Adults in the House (Wexler, Frank, etc) and Children in the House (Bachmann, King, Etc)

The Adults do work, the Children spout off nonsense. The Adults ignore the children and life goes on.

10. He has pissed off a lot of people in SC who are tired of being pissed on by their elected reps.

No one outside of SC had even heard of this asshole until last night. Now he's the laughing stock of the nation, and South Carolinians are NOT happy campers at all. Believe me, I live here, and no one is laughing.

Even some people who don't like Obama are pissed off at Wilson for embarrassing the state.

Oh, I dunno.  I think it's a pretty good chance Congressman Wilson is assured re-election for life now.

Well, the last time a congress member from SC got thrown outta congress, the people reelected him, gave him a better stick and sent him right back to Washington......This time I think a microphone and a 200 amp speaker would be more in line.

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948
