This Sarah Palin is a real woman much as my beloved missus.
Down south she would be seen as a lady. Out west and in Alaska she is is as well. America was built on women such as this. She reminds me of my grandmother who was faced with he prospect of raising a family when her husband was rendered unable to work because of working too hard (depression era) and found a way to do it and care for her stricken (and bitterly so) husband. Made her a hard woman as the challenges were massive but she succeeded none the less.
In the most respectful sense of the word, Governor Palin is a broad. I reserve that term to very few women.
