DU Needs Your Help -- Visit our new DU3 software preview and start posting!

Many of you are aware that the DU administrators have been working on a complete overhaul of the DU software, which we call "DU3". We have been working hard for more than a year, and we are excited to open it up again for the fourth and final preview.

Please note that only DU members who registered before January 19, 2011 are eligible to log-in to participate in this preview. Everyone else can browse the site, but cannot log in. Please note that because we imported the DU user data in January, if you have changed your password here on DU since then, you will have to use the password you had back in January in order to log in to DU3. (If you don't know your password, you can use the DU3 lost password function to have a temporary password assigned.)

There are lots of new surprises waiting to be discovered!  Don't be shy about trying out all the features and functions -- this is just a preview, and the DU3 database will be wiped clean for the official launch.

The new software is available at a temporary address here on the DU server:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/du3

Please kick and rec this thread so more DUers can see it. Thanks.

Oh damn! You can "Like" certain posts/comments on Facebook! This will be very entertaining, and something I just might do for the more...um..."exciting" posts. :whistling:

Are they really sure they want that kind of exposure though?

I think this just further cements, and supports my vote for the Willie.  :-)

The biggest difference: Way more space for advertising, and fewer DUmmies will be able to avoid them due to the jacked-up star price.

Nutcase nadin is still in hiding, hoping to avoid DOTY humiliation.

Or at least I think she is. I  hope her absence has nothing to do with all that plutonium from "Fiuki" raining down on San Diego.

I see that they adoped our beloved popcorn smiley, but kept that annoying, awful, ROFL smiley, with the little guy with the spastic leg.  They have a cute one of a smiley bouncing up and down on a couch, which we could use on occasion.

I see that Cats Against Frist is still alive.  He take communists to task, and beats them down.  I believe he lived under a communist regime IIRC.  Anyway, he knows.

Someone posted a joke:
Quote
A guy walks into a bar with a piano entertainer, sits down and orders a beer. The piano player's monkey soon jumps on the bar and urinates in the guy's beer. The guy yells to the piano player, "Hey, do you know your monkey just peed in my beer?" The piano player says, "No, but if you hum a few bars, I might remember it!"
To which this guy says,

I've still never been able to understand why my fellow alum just didn't adopt the same format, the same software, we have here--in fact, given their alleged computer expertise, I'm surprised the Big Three didn't adopt this format before conservativecave ever existed.

The only thing I can figure out is that Skins owed Elad a favor, and so gave him the job of constructing Skins's island.  Maybe it would've been better for Skins to repay the favor some other way.

And it's a testament to the skill and efficiency of the elusive Elad that DU3 has taken longer to develop than the Apollo moon project.

I think he may have seen the handwriting on the wall, that completion of DU3 would perhaps be the end of his gainful employment.

Sort of like the Ukrainian concentration camp guards, as the inmate population dwindled.

Well, my thought was that since Skins had worked for all these congressmen and senators, and since his wife used to work for a congressional committee, he had all these connections, and could get Elad a position as Alan Grayson's press secretary or something.  It probably would've worked out better than this construction, and now reconstruction, of Skins's island.
