Well, different context, but they normally ARE "model minorities".
They don't want our money. They don't want free shit. They demand nothing but to be left alone so they can prosper.
They retain their culture, but respect ours above it. Yes, they are exemplary citizens and we'd like to have more of them.
For the most part, "they" decide to be ordinary productive and creative people and citizens. IOW, for all meaningful intents and purposes, "they" truly are
WE. And as for the occasional idiot racists, well "they" exact their revenge through prospering.
(Personally, I hate all this "they/we", "race", "mixed race", and similar nonsense. We're all one race, the human race.)One of the many reasons race-baiting-and-hating blacktivists resent and/or hate Asian people is that Asian people are as visually apparent as black people, yet somehow have managed to do much better, on average, than American-born blacks; many despite having limited English. And racists of whatever geographic location don't love Asian people any more than they love blacks ("Yellow Peril" was not an expression of affection, IYKWIM).
IOW, the question many ask, "If they can do it, why can't you," has substantial grounding in reality.
BUT the question that should be heard is, "If they can do it, why don't
WE?!"
