I've had two posts running for a couple of months about saving my house through a GoFundMe. I've received a few donations, and I really appreciate it.

I've worked out a repayment plan with the mortgage company and they're willing to set things up if they can withdraw $1,092 out of my checking account on the 19th of August.

Unfortunately, as I explain in the GoFundMe, I've been using my overdraft protection for a few months now, and my checking account is currently in the red, to the amount of -$1,007 ($1000 is the limit, though they'll occasionally let me go to -$1500). I'm on a fixed income due to military disability, and the usage of the overdraft wipes out most of my benefits when they arrive, causing a vicious cycle. Neither my wife nor I have any family that we can ask for money, and my credit has been shot because of what has been happening. If I can just get started on the repayment plan, I can put everything back in order. I really need to raise about $1,100 dollars by the 17th (it takes a couple of days for the money to get to the bank). If there is any way that you can contribute, or share with someone that might be able to contribute it would be appreciated so much.

I'm already in the process of working some things out, I just need to ensure that our family of four and our four pets and thrown out onto the street because this doesn't get paid on the 19th. Thank you so much for reading, even if you can't help.

It looks confusing, since I'm already in the red, but if I can get $1,100 in (which means the campaign would need to get to about $1,900) by the 17th, I'll be able to use the overdraft again to cover the automatic withdrawal coming on the 19th.

One solution would be to bail out on your bank. Before you do that, go to another bank

and set up a new account, and transfer all your payments and business to that bank. Don't tell them your situation, don't tell anyone, just do it. Once your accounts are all set up in the new bank, then let the first bank's account go bad, and eventually, one day, maybe, try to fix it, if you get in the situation to do so. The bank is dunning you for fees, you're not stealing food from someone's table. You'll get harassed until the cows come home by the bank seeking their money. Don't respond, don't admit to the debt, never acknowledge to callers that it's your account or your responsibility. Ever. Once you admit it's your debt, the cycle starts again. If you never admit to owning the debt, it's over with in 7 years.

By the same token, stop paying the medical bills debt. Again, the same thing applies. Never admit to being responsible to the debt to any creditors who call. It's not yours, they're confused, you've never heard of that medical facility, it's not your problem, and hang up. In fact, change your phone, and get a P.O. Box. Tell the medical bills people you moved to a fictitious address. Whatever you do, never ever admit to anyone on the phone that it's your debt and that you're responsible.

For the time being, use a payday loan thing, pay the mortgage and utilities, get current on the vital things. Use the old bank account, don't tell them you have a new account. Then, sadly, walk away from it. Let it go bad.

At this point, you should file bankruptcy. If your credit sucks already, well then hell, why not? You can rebuild your credit file eventually, but if you've got your new account set up, you'll be ok someday.

When a stranger calls your house asking for Bob Smith, just say they've got the wrong number. If someone knows you, they know who they're talking to. Or don't answer and only use your mobile phones. I don't even know my landline number. If someone calls it, it's surely not anyone I know, so why would I want to talk to them?

Sometimes you just have to walk away from that stuff to save yourself. You didn't buy a new car or go shopping, you had a financial crisis and you weren't irresponsible, but crap happens. This isn't a great way to solve it. It's not pretty, it's not nice and it's unpleasant, but you'll never get caught up unless you generate income again. Even if you have to pick up cans on the side of the road to earn a few pennies, income is income.

Your wife may want to consider getting a job, such as cleaning houses, dog walking, pet sitting, etc. If you're physically able, you could be a team of cleaners. It's self employment, it's good, honest work and people need cleaners. You have to be good at it though!

Good luck. Do some reading on how to declare bankruptcy, and the means that people use to dodge huge medical bills, and get their head above water.

It's a Halloween picture. I think he may be some sort of rainbow-unicorn creature.

The one thing that really bugs me about his situation - assuming it's real - is that his kids are going through it, too. And I agree with the comment that he looks like he's high, which probably affects his ability to get and hold a job.

I lost track of which thread it was - one of the ones linked above though. He said his wife can't work because she's taking care of the kids and he's unemployable. I don't understand why he can't watch the kids while she works. I think part of the excuse is that she's breastfeeding, but tons of women use a breast pump and bottle that and still manage to hold down jobs. And most of us, if faced with foreclosure and bankruptcy would say okay, breastfeeding was nice but if I need to buy formula to get a job, that's just the adult decision to make. I am trying to understand "I need strangers to buy me a house while I stay home so I can breastfeed my child."

And BTW, those warm white lights are incandescents, and I think the blue ones are, too - i.e. they boost his electric bill more than LEDs would.

And, yeah, if he's unemployable, wifey should express her milk and/or use formula. Actually, skip that. In that pic from last Halloween (I assume), the little one is easily 15-18 months old. Now, 10 months later, he should be weaned. IOW, unless they had another child they knew they could not afford,wifey should be able to work if he really cannot.

Dare I ask? Why is qnr "unemployable"? Is the reason related to his stoned look in those pix?
