US accidentally releases secret list of nuclear sites

Washington, June 3 (IANS) The US government mistakenly released a secret report giving detailed information about hundreds of the America's civilian nuclear sites and programmes, including maps showing the precise locations of stockpiles of fuel for nuclear weapons, the New York Times reported Wednesday.

The publication of the 266-page document with its pages marked 'highly confidential' was revealed Monday in an on-line newsletter devoted to issues of federal secrecy, according to the influential US daily.

The document was withdrawn from a Government Printing Office website Tuesday evening after inquiries from the Times, it said.

The information, considered sensitive but not classified, was assembled for transmission later this year to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

President Barack Obama sent the document to the Congress May 5 for review and possible revision, and the Government Printing Office subsequently posted the draft declaration on its web site. As of Tuesday evening, the reasons for that action remained a mystery, the Times said.

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

How do you accidentally release "classified" US nuclear facilities and locations?...Surely this isn't what BHO (BBUHN) meant by having the most transparent administration ever. :loser:

Accidently or on purpose?

It does seem that most of these "accidental" leaks either come from Dems, or during Dem administrations...

Course if the POTUS were able to get a security clearance without benefit of his being in office, he might understand what secrecy means...

It was not "secret" but "confidential". Everything there was public information , by law, but it had not been collated at as single source. Why make it easier for terrorists? But that is EXACTLY what the bozo's did.  :thatsright:

I don't know which is worse, the fact that it was leaked, or the fact that it was created to basically give it to the UN.

Of course, we all know that there would be no security leaks at the UN.  It can't be a leak if certain members purposely gave the report to terrorists.

I don't know about that. There were plenty of leaks during the Bush administration, of course most of those were damaging to President Bush and/or National security and were usually printed in the New York Times.

ETA;  The pdf is available HERE. the site is very slow, since every terrorist and their mother are visiting it right now.

Hi,

You make a good point.  In the book The Party of Defeat it pretty well spells out that the CIA leaked the information to cover themselves and discredit Bush.  As long as that was what was accomplished you are right, no outrage.  This however should be a huge embarrassment for the clowns in charge.

I guess you are right though, the clowns want to do everything they can to destroy the military and their ability to protect our country so this should fall right in line.
