I guess it's kinda like the analogy of the sqeaky tire getting the grease. Conservatives, being individualistic, don't protest. We're more prone to spend time with our families And working at our JOBS.. Liberals are collectivists. They get their identity from a special interest group. So, that's what the MSM sees.

Everyone following? Have anything to add?

Sorry Reb, had to fix that little oversight.

Beej, can you explain to me how so many moonbats, Like Livingstone, get elected in England? I read Brit papers all the time. Hell, Drudge links to them all the time. From what one would see on the MSM, you'd think the entire country was f'ed up, but from reading TONS of comments by Brits, on MANY stories, hell, it seems they're just like me. Then again, if you didn't have CC or CU, how would you view the states? Especially given current events?

Ken Livingstone was mostly a local politician, although based in London he had a higher profile than most. He had been the leader of the Greater London Council, which was the local government for the whole of London until it was abolished by Margaret Thatcher. After which he got elected to a seat in Parliament and then got elected as Mayor for London. London is a large city, and like large cities in the US trends away from the right so it was no surprise that Livingstone who had long positioned himself as 'Mr London' won the first couple of elections. Interestingly for the second election he left the Labour party and some of his support was by was of a protest against Labour. Thankfully the city came to its senses and elected the Conservative Boris Johnson as Mayor this time.

The UK political parties are of course more to the left of their natural US counterparts (with the exception of the Blessed Margaret Thatcher). Labour got in in 1997 following the conservative government of 1979-1997. They campaigned with a shiny new young  leader promising change and empty platitudes and because many people were fed up of an admittedly somewhat tired Conservative administration they flocked to vote Labour into parliament in sufficient numbers that the Conservatives took quite some time to recover. Though they have and are currently well ahead in the polls.

As to how I would view the US if I only had the MSM to go by? Possibly not much differently overall. Our newspapers tend to have pretty upfront political leanings and the Daily Telegraph and Daily Mail for example can be relied on for a more conservative leaning view so as hard as the BBC tries actual information does come through.  Have we all fallen under the 'Obama spell'? Ive never fully understood Europe's general satisfaction with Obama - without sounding crass - anytime something bad stirs up over there, Its the USA who usually plays the heavy and squashes the problem. A weakened, peacenik United States can not be relied upon to ride in and assist in dealing with any major conflict.

Spot on Rebel.  What I'm curious to know is...if there are any places in England like CC.

Are there Conservative websites like this one across the pond?

I for one would love to join one if that was the case.
There are some I'm sure the only conservative one I can think of is http://freebritannia.6.forumer.com/viewforum.php?f=1
(Gator is a member there!)
Otherwise they tend to be more either topic based or blog style. I did put up a thread a while ago with some British sites, the ones I go to most often are:

www.politicalbetting.com

^add me to that too.

I get the impression that those who are like minded in the UK are merely shouted down by their more unhinged counterparts on the left. And sadly, they seem to have a stranglehold on the govt. I could not live there.
The left excels at shouting down opposition. They are in charge because sufficient people voted them in. However I can remember all the Tony Blair love at Free Republic and some very snippy remarks made to those who expressed the view that he was a lying charlatan, it's not just the left he fooled.

THE al-Qaeda cell wiped out by Black Death may have infected ITSELF while developing biological weapons, it emerged last night.

The terrorists planned to wreak havoc on Western targets but fell victims to their own weapon, a leading expert on chemical warfare believes.

The Sun revealed yesterday that Black Death, also called the Plague, killed at least 40 fanatics at a terror training camp in Algeria earlier this month.

It was thought they caught the disease through poor living conditions in their forest hideouts.

But Dr Igor Khrupinov, of Georgia University, said: “Al-Qaeda is known to experiment with biological weapons. And this group has direct communication with other cells around the world.
...

Last year it was revealed 100 suspected terrorists tried to become students in Britain, giving them access to labs.

In 2006 a plot to poison London’s water was unmasked.

OK I been wondering about something every since this thread started, where is Dr. Death. You know, the woman Dr. that worked for Saddam whosane, she was an expert in this field. They caught and imprisoned her early in the war and some how she escaped or got released. She disappeared and hasn't been seen since...... Anybody know if they've found her or is she still running loose?

Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

The news I heard today is that the terrorists were, in fact, trying to develop the plague to use as a weapon. It was not just a result of poor living conditions.
