The Screenplay to “Charlie Wilson’s War†was written by Aaron Sorkin, the Ultra-Liberal crackhead that wrote “The West Wing.â€
The movie starred Ultra-Liberals Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks.
And since I was ‘involved†on the periphery of the matter, the funding of the Afghan Resistance to the Soviet Invasion wasn’t as easy as depicted in the film. Lots of political infighting and resistance among State, DoD, Congress and the White House.
And Charlie Wilson wasn’t a Conservative—except that he hated the Soviets. He was as “Big Government†“Tax and Spend†Liberal as Tip O’Neal.
If you shun ultra-liberals, you have to shun movies almost totally. I thought "Charlie Wilson's War"
was excellent entertainment, and both Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks were great in it. I didn't see it as
loony leftist propaganda, like a Michael Moore or Oliver Stone movie.
