Title: The next big battle
Post by: Old n Grumpy on June 25, 2017, 11:20:32 AM
While we have been winning seats in both houses and the presidency, as well as governors and state legislator seats, the next real battle in my opinion is local governments.

Our major cities have been driven to financial ruin, the streets are not safe in a lot of areas and the number one item on the agenda is liberal / progressive ideals. Judeo / Christian values, the importance of family and self reliance are being wiped out in favor of homosexuality, transgenderism, islam and the welfare state.

We need to start flushing out these low level politicians at the bottom, school boards, city councils , mayors even the dog catcher. I realize that some of the genies that have been let out of the bottle can't be put back, but some common sense and reality needs to prevail.

Saying this will not make me any friends, but I have a different take on what the next 4 years will look like, and I suspect it will be the comeback of the commies.
Trump won by just typical to small margins from an overall perspective. Of course, some states were more than blow-outs. My state went Trump @ something like 69 or 70%.
But one thing remains: The next elections won't have a cold war commie splitting up the dimocrat vote... and I think we are grossly underestimating how much that had to do with Trumps victory, and all those house and senate seats that rode in on straight ticket votes.
Even if the mid-terms in 2018 are a republican disaster, due to the rotation, we don't stand to lose it ALL, just a few, but even that can really throw a wrench in the current congressional control status.
Don't underestimate the power of all this propaganda either.
Half of Americans are flat out stupid. They are either buying into all this crap in the media, or it's confusing the hell out of them... either way, it will affect their voting. The left knows this too... that's why they are doing it. They've always relied on the lower half of the intellect to stay in power, and they always will.
The future doesn't look all peaches and cream to me... and I know I'll get a lot of static for saying it, but I really do feel like thats the reality of it.
And I believe it will have an effect on local elections as well... people see red v/s blue, and nothing else in a LOT of cases.

FZ, what we don't know right now is everything.  Our world is just waiting for a match to be struck in the Middle East, or North Korea (whose leader has an intention to use nuclear weapons against us).  Who knows--the Yellowstone caldera could blow, and that would rip the USA to shreds.  Maybe the many fault lines that cross California will shift to the tune of an 8.0 earthquake.  Maybe a superbug will hit somewhere in the developed world.

There's a lot of variables at play here.  Do good by yourself and your family, and maybe that will inspire someone to do the next good thing, and maybe that will save someone's life.

Very simplistic, I know, but it's something that I can control.

That's all we can do... roll with it.
That's the diff between us and the garden variety liberal though.
Of course I'll be pissed if we lose the reigns, but I'm not going to scream and stomp about it for months/years on end and refuse to accept reality. I'm also not going to lose any sleep over it... what happens, happens. All I can do is keep raising my kids with what money gov. isn't taking from me, and vote. I can't control the socialist side of America, nor have I ever changed anyones mind. Only time and wisdom do that... for the smarter ones.
Oh, and of course enjoy this ride while we've got it and taunt the left relentlessly whenever possible... after all, they earned it

FZ, I understand your view and you are right that there are to many stupid people out there that vote for a sound bite.
My hope is that Trump can make enough changes to make a difference in the lives of your average American so we can continue to ride the wave.

If the economy improves, taxes for the working class are cut and something decent is done with health care I think all the lying and screaming of the libs will not have much of an effect.

I didn't vote for  a long time because I was convinced my vote didn't matter. I voted against obame and hitlery and this time I feel like my vote counted . That is important to me and hopefully a lot of others.

There's a lot of truth in that. When people's lives and financial condition improve, that's the biggest motivator. Le'ts just hope it's enough to change enough minds.
Sometimes I have to remind myself... people under 25 have never really experienced the real America, powerful and prosperous. After so many years of liberal control and American mediocrity, this is all they know and consider it to be normal.
Le'ts hope that enough of them recognize the change in the air and how it benefits our society and culture, and their own individual potentials

Well said, BSS.  This mirrors my outlook on things.   :cheersmate:

Bingo. I have very little faith any more in the American people to see reality and who, in lieu of that, embrace empty, stupid, ****ed-up promises.

And that includes voters on BOTH sides of the political spectrum. Even those who think Trump is the be-all, end-all.

Hey guys - it's all about those who hold on to power. The politicians pay off those who prefer to stay under the radar. Why? Because the politicians are all about staying ABOVE the radar. They thrive on it and won't let go. Look at Ryan, Pelosi, McConnell, McLame, and even Gowdy. I don't trust any of the bastards. AT ALL.
