Meh, screw it.  We'll just sit off the coast and lob a few hundred Tomahawks your way instead.

Which would explain why I see 500 shots and 1 person hit in the latest Boston area shooting on WHDH every night.

Newport, RI--a flower in a pile of shit.  Yeah, that'll work.

I shipped for Newport and yes it is an upgrade from Norfolk but it ain't all angel farts and rainbows.  RI, the RHSC of NE ?  Yeah, I can buy that.  Cranston, Providence, Newport, the Foxy Lady and the Mob. That is RI.  And I have it on good authority they are right up there with Maine in coffee brandy consumption.

Mass drivers are the worst.  They come to NH to escape but bring their bad habits with them.   I have known numerous raters from Liberty which had the good sense to escape Mass in the late sixties.   Scary stories.

Was up your way today, will they ever finish RT 16?  Is every state cop in NH up there?

MA drives through NH to get to Maine and VT -- I rarely if ever stop anywhere in NH, and can't remember the last time I went to Lake Winnepesake (I do love it there).    We have Cape Cod, and the islands.   NH is not exactly the top tourist spot of NE.

Newport is old money.  It is absolutely gorgeous, as is a lot of RI.   Comparing RI to NH is apples to oranges.   The poorest state in New England is hands down New Hampshire.   Maine has the entire coast line of tourist business and multi-million dollar property.  VT, besides for being just breath taking beautiful, is the real ski country of the six states.

That is the way it has always been.  No one longs to live in New Hampshire, unless you are from there.

The poorest state in New England is hands down New Hampshire.

Wow.  That last post was almost vesta-esque in it's total lack of coherence and utter bullshit.

But let's just focus on the statement you posted there, shall we?

The rate was highest in Mississippi, at 21.9 percent, and lowest in New Hampshire, where 8.5 percent of residents live in poverty. There were only four other states besides New Hampshire that had poverty rates below 10 percent: Alaska, Connecticut, Maryland and New Jersey.

Psst...that means MA has a HIGHER rate of poverty than NH.

And I would be fine if we could do a big dig under or over so they could go direct.

As long as they leave their money for booze, butts, lottery tickets, and, tolls I am just fine with them speeding on their way to ME or VT.

Don't bring a knife to a gun fight Sparky.  I was born and raised in MA, and have traveled throughout New England my entire life.     Save for a few vacation homes in NH, you can't hold a candle to the suburbs of Boston, or even some of the suburbs of Worcester.

The Tax Foundation found that homeowners in these states paid the most in property taxes compared to home value.  The percentages represent the percentage of home value that homeowners pay in property taxes.

New Jersey - 1.89%
New Hampshire - 1.86%
Texas - 1.81%
Wisconsin - 1.76%
Nebraska - 1.70%
Illinois - 1.73%
Connecticut - 1.63%
Michigan - 1.62%
Vermont - 1.59%
North Dakota - 1.42%

Um, that's where you'd be wrong.  Look at California.  The average home price there is still well north of $500K, but you can't GIVE the shit away.  Does that make them better than MA?

Homes in my area are on the market an average of less than a month.  Can you make the same claim?  What I'm saying is that you get more for your money, my obtuse little friend.  Try putting my humble abode in MA and tell me I wouldn't get SIGNIFICANTLY more for it than I do here.  And I won't have to sell my soul to live in a liberal "paradise" such as the one you inhabit.

And clearly, I also wouldn't want to compare any NH towns to Dorchester, Lynn, Saugus, Revere, Brockton, Raynham, Boston....shit goes both ways.

Outrageous?  Hardly.  I pay $4500/year in property tax.

Were I to work in MA, with my current salary, and a "average" home there, I'd pay the following:

(I'm using my coworker's example who lives in Groveland.  He pays about $4K a year in property taxes.)

Then add in the $6000 in state taxes I'd be paying.

Then add in the sales tax on all the shit I buy there.

Tell me I'm paying more again?  You'd be wrong.  Oh so very wrong.

Compared to what your house is worth?  yeah that is high.

My mill rate is under $13.    Southern NH mill rate?

http://www.brinrealty.com/index.php/Resources/Property-Taxes-in-Southern-New-Hampshire.html

Milford NH mill rate is $32?   Are you freakin kidding me right now?   Yeah that is SOOOOOO much better than paying sales and income tax.

This thread has long passed it's usefulness.

You really need to look at total tax burden not selective cherry picking of real estate taxes.  On the whole, Mass costs more.  Now don't make me get out of my chair again or things will get ugly. :-)

Real estate tax rates are difficult at best to compare.  But for just for chuckles here arethe current rates for a few local towns around P_town north:  Greenland 13.55,  Hampton 16.28,  P_town 17.09.   And then you also have New Castle, 4.97 ( but houses cost considerably more than "average" there) Newington 8.91, Rye 9.82.  The liberal hell holes of Roach-chester 22.94 and Scummersworth 25.81  have higher taxes and lower property values.

Why are illegal immigrants increasing and native son's and daughters decreasing in Mass?  This has been a trend since at least the ninties.  I would suggest it is the extended welfare state mentality which creates overly high taxes.  Mass has been trying to reduce its overall tax burden but it is still one of the least desirable places to live.

And on the topic of illegals, how many sanctuary cities does Mass have now?  How many illegals are multiple driving offenders?  Not only do they not have a green card most don't have a driver's license let alone insurance.  Guess I will have to make some time to tune in to Howie Carr if he is even still on. :hammer:
