There is more than enough evidence that Trump was aiming for an excuse for martial law,
not a real attempt to turn the election results. It fits the means, motive and opportunity and provides for specific premeditation. This is a charge that is more explicit and specific than some general call to action in vain hope of succeeding. In fact, the riot itself would be the ends he was looking for. The idea of martial law was in his head from the beginning. The death of anyone in the line of succession- specific targets of the mob- would have been all that he needed to pull it off. Why not present the case that way?

4. This is what I felt while watching the insurrection in real time.
I was so afraid Trump was going to declare Martial Law. I think the brave Capitol officers and especially Eugene Goodman who diverted the mob from the Senate Chambers likely prevented the deaths of elected officials that would have given Trump the excuse he was waiting for.

Someone should find a crime victim named Marshall.. and then write a law about it... and get Marshall Law passed and in effect at all times. I wonder how many DUmmies (and Americans in general) would tie themselves in knots over that one?

The DUmmies' views on martial law have always been as inconsistent as their views on most other subjects, and like most other subjects, depend on the political party that the current president belongs to.
If a Republican is in office, they'll shriek with paranoia that it's just a matter of time before the Repub president declares martial law as a way to increase his own power, and portray it as a Holocaust- level atrocity.
If a Democrat is in office, in contrast, they'll demand a Dem president declare martial law as a heroic and necessary act in order to keep all those mean old conservative citizens in line and punish them for daring to express a conservative thought. Example: in early January of 2017, the DUmmies were demanding that Obama toss out the results of the 2016 election, set a new election date, remain in office past his term limit, and declare martial law to crush any opposition to any of those policies.

Hmmmmmm, I do not think it's Trump who is keeping a barb-wire-topped chain-link fence around the Capitol Building. I do not think it's Trump who is keeping several thousand National Guard troops in WashDC for no reason. Who is it who has imposed martial law on WashDC?!

regarding all that fencing and barb wire in DC... I thought walls and fences didn't work? At least that's what the left kept repeating as President Trump was building the wall on the southern border...
