Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) said Democrats will push for a stimulus package after the November election, and called for a package reducing defense spending by 25 percent while saying Congress will "eventually" raise taxes.

Frank told the editorial board of the SouthCoast Standard-Times that he wanted to reduce defense spending by a quarter, meaning the United States would have to withdraw from Iraq sooner.

"The people of Iraq want us out, and we want to stay over their objection," he said. "It's extraordinary."

Frank also said the post-election stimulus package will focus on spending for building projects, extending unemployment benefits, and further supporting states' healthcare costs. "We'll have to raise taxes ultimately," Frank said. "Not now, but eventually." Frank told the Standard-Times that if Democrats cannot secure the votes they need in November, they will try again in January, when they will likely have stronger majorities in the House and Senate.

Frank, the Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, was an instrumental figure in engineering the bailout legislation to the U.S. financial industry, and indicated a new package may seek to ameliorate fears about investing. "The psychological problem is even worse than the real problem," Frank said.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Barney Fag Frank is setting us up for another attack the size of 9/11 or greater by telegraphing his desire to take a hatchet to our military and defense by cutting funds. This surrender monkey should have been expelled from Congress. If Obama wins, we will have a weak foreign policy and military commander like Jimmy Carter plus the economy will go further in the tank because of tax increases.

The Substandard Times is probably the biggest newspaper in this region, save for the Boston Rags and the ProJo. It will probably get some play locally, and Im certain it will hit both the Providence and Boston FOX stations at least.

It may go further, since Frank has been (somewhat) on the hot-seat since the financial crisis.

What is wrong with the people in his state?  Is there some sort of chemical in the water they just melts their brains?

He says he wants to cut a quarter from defense spending.

OK, Mr Fag-o-saurus, here you go: a whole twenty-five cents.

Don't spend it all in one place.

SecArmy Geren was speaking at the portrait unveiling for his predecessor Dr. Francis Harvey at the Pentagon on Wed and both of them spoke about how underfunded the Army was when this Administration took over from Clinton.  They didn't come right out and say it, but the implication was that it's hindered us in Iraq and Afghanistan.

And now here we have yet another Lib wanting to come in and undermine what's been done to get our Armed Forces BACK to where they belong.

:thatsright:

And yet the Libs STILL can't figure out why Americans don't trust them to keep this country safe.

The ENTIRE military was underfunded during the Clinton regime. Parts were scarce. WE often had to suspend flight ops for a long while due to lack of funding, etc etc etc

Well, I imagine it'll be a lot like what the Air Force went through with our 10% manning draw down.  They'll look at each AFSC and determine how many from each need to go to maintain efficiency.  Then they'll ask for volunteers.  Once point in time X has been reached, they'll start making people leave.  They'll go first for those with "records", and once all the chaff has been worked out, if they still need to reduce more, just hope you don't come into work one day and see that pink slip.

I'd like to compare Barney Frank's income taxes with mine.

I suspect the flatulent fat fraud pays a lower percentage than I do, what with loopholes and underreporting of income and illicit income and payoffs.

The military will start with those close to retirement & offer an early retirement. Then they'll probably offer some a ridiculously trifle amount to leave, similar to what they did in the early 90s under the Rumsfeld and Clinton regime. Next, they'll start looking at over-manned ratings/ MOS'/ AFSCs and start cutting them back. The Dems are typically weak on the military as they seem to think that we don't need all the troops that are REALLY necessary. Reagan was a Dem turned Republican, but he DID a lot of good for the military. 600 ship Navy, troops that had pretty decent manning levels, better pay and decent funding for the various units, etc etc etc

What these Libtards DON'T get is the fact that if the other countries perceive us having a weak military, it opens us up for attacks and allows communism or theocracies to flourish.

God forbid that something happens after the military is Obaminated and shriveled like the Dems want, that would require rebuilding the military.  The Dems would have to institute a draft since no one would volunteer under his regime.

So lemme get this straight--he wants to cut DoD spending by 25 percent?

Does this assclown realize that right now defense spending is barely 4 percent of GDP?  And by cutting it to under 3 percent he'd be spending a LOWER percentage of GDP than we did, even under Clinton?

Come, veterans of the 90's.  Take a walk back with me when we had to train with no ammo, cannibalize equipment, and get ONE payraise in eight years that covered the rate of inflation.  Yeah, that'll keep the troops happy.

Of course he knows that.  And he knows what it will do to our national security.

They don't care Sparky.  They have no love nor use for the military...unless it is to silence the masses and/or snatch their weapons.

The Clinton era problems of soldiers on food stamps and welfare...three combat divisions at 75% readiness or below matter not one whit to them as long as they can take that money and funnel it to their socialistic desires and programs.

Oh, they have no love for us, that's for sure, but I sure seem to remember getting USED a lot.  More times deployed in eight years under Clinton that the previous five presidents COMBINED.

I remember the command telling us in the mid-90's the new catchphrase was, "Work smarter, not harder."  They almost kept a straight face when they told us that.

Yup I survived all of that too.

Never thought there would be a sequel to that bad movie though.
