In a move that could severely impact the U.S. power industry, Barack Obama plans to classify carbon dioxide as a dangerous pollutant that can be regulated if he wins the White House.

A President Obama will tell the Environmental Protection Agency that it can use the 1990 Clean Air Act to set CO2 emissions limits on power plants and manufacturers, his energy adviser Jason Grumet said in an interview with Bloomberg.com.

He would be the first president to classify emissions blamed for global warming in the category of pollutants that includes lead, carbon monoxide, ozone and sulfur dioxide.

“Placing heat-trapping pollutants in the same category as ozone may lead to caps on power-plant emissions and force utilities to use the most expensive systems to curb pollution,” Bloomberg reports.

“The move may halt construction plans on as many as half of the 130 proposed new U.S. coal plants.”

As if our energy costs for our homes aren't high enough already.  Who will pay the costs for upgrading emission controls or paying the CO2 tax? Sheesh, some places already  have limits on wood burning stoves and fireplaces.

In litigation with the Enviro moonbats, the EPA has in the past year been forced by a court to accept the proposition that CO2 is a "Pollutant" for Clean Air Act purposes, based mainly on the global warming pseudoscience.  This is therefore something they won't even need sweeping new legislation to do, just a receptive White House that will have EPA implement it, and a moonbat Congress that won't do anything affirmative to stand in the way.

Between this, and his idea that high gas prices will force everyone to purchase the as-yet-nonexistant perfect solar cars, and the fact that wind energy is now supposedly damaging the environment...I can foresee a lot of us living like O's brother is he is elected.
