The change Obama speaks of...
« on: October 19, 2008, 11:05:30 PM »
George Bush has been in office for 7-1/2 years.  The first six years the economy was fine.

 A little over one year ago:
     1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2  year high;
     2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a  gallon;
     3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
     4) the DOW JONES hit a record high--14,000 +
     5) American's were buying new cars, taking cruises, vacations overseas, living large!...

 But American's wanted 'CHANGE'!  So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and yes--we got 'CHANGE' all right. In the PAST YEAR:

    1) Consumer confidence has plummeted;
    2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!;
    3) Unemployment is up to 5.5% (a 10% increase);
    4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION DOLLARS and prices are still dropping;
    5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
    6) as I write, THE DOW is probing another low~~$2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAVE EVAPORATED FROM THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT  PORTFOLIOS!

    7)  Banks are failing right and left.

 YES, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE...AND WE SURE GOT IT!  ...

 REMEMBER THE PRESIDENT HAS NO CONTROL OVER ANY OF THESE ISSUES, ONLY CONGRESS.   And we currently have a DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS!!!!

 AND WHAT HAS CONGRESS DONE IN THE LAST TWO YEARS, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

 NOW THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT CLAIMS HE IS GOING TO REALLY GIVE US CHANGE ALONG WITH A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS!!!!

 JUST HOW MUCH MORE 'CHANGE' CAN YOU STAND?

This should be updated. Unemployment has risen and gas prices have dropped.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

Not to mention inflation has gone up about 5 percent in that time since Stretch Pelosi and her minions took over in '07.

I see what Strider is getting at and he makes a very good case of why we can't afford anymore of the Democrat Party version of "Change".

Pretty soon that's all we'll have left of our paychecks on payday.

Especially if they get control of ALL of it.

Obama will impose one failed socialist scheme after another.

As the economy tanks even harder conservatives will howl that his policies are making it worse.

The libs will respond: no, this is Bush's fault, if The Chosen One weren't imposing these measures it would be even worse.

If we can grab congress back in 2010 and stop him we can mitigate the dage to 10 years. If he gets an entire term in the WH this will take 30 years to undo.

After income tax, FICA, and global health benefits coverage, the change he's talking about is around $.40 on every dollar we earn for most of us.

but he'll redistribute that other 60% of every dollar to folks who "deserve" it more by being poorer than other people.  I say we all race for the poverty line.  if I had been given my first choice,  I would have become a homeless drunken derelict by profession years and years ago.  the career prospects for the line of work are finally looking brighter.

I think it is safe to say the idea is to tax you until you are so poor you have to end-up on the gov't dole.

That way you have have no choice but to be in the palm of democrats who will protect the thin thread from which you hang from the evil republicans who would cut your benefits to give tax cuts to the rich.

I don't think so. You'll have to use the public computers at the library like the homeless here do. Well, they don't really use them.... just sleep there and stink up the joint. Although if the BarackStar! gets elected, maybe he will provide laptops with wireless internet for the homeless, so ya might be all good there anyway.  :lmao:

oh, wait.  I remember during the primaries that he said he was going to provide broadband to 100% of the country . . . or maybe that was just to iowa.  I can't remember.

but if I can't have broadband and be a homeless drunk, then forget it.  :censored:  I mean, is that asking too much?
