The Name
« on: January 17, 2008, 06:10:09 PM »
No offense, but... I think that naming this site Conservative Cave would work a little better than the current name. Having a plural word, in this case the word conservatives, followed by the word cave causes me, and possibly others, to read the word cave as a verb. Having the word "cave" in Conservatives Cave operate as a verb conveys what everyone here would agree is the wrong idea.

Yeah, the current name doesn't read too well.

Still trying to think of something new.

Okay. I didn't know that the name was still up in the air. Nevermind then.

NAMBLA is a left-wing organization.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

Actually, that wouldn't be a bad idea, if more of the general public understood the historical significance.

After all, what with Fat Che, and the primitives on Skins's island, daily calling for our heads and our liquidation, our eradication, our extermination, that would be an ideal name.

But I'm not so sure much of the general public would get the meaning, alas.

Has word of our existence spread to DUmmieland yet?

I'm sure some whispers of it have, but not much.

I always look at the number of "guests," to see if it's a significant number.

We've been mentioned a couple of times on Skins's island, but when reading those campfires, I got the impression the mentions kind of flew right over the heads of the primitives.

Given that the primitives are so intellectually and perceptially challenged, I assume what's going on right now is that most of the primitives who were watching conservativeunderground, are now noticing traffic and comments there are way down.....and being primitives, assume it's because of our "diminishing" numbers.

It'll be a rude awakening for the primitives, when they discover this place, and I'm sure we're all going to enjoy every minute of their consternation.

That was actually the name of one of the many forums that jty and I started up. Jty came up with the name and I sort of like it.

I like the Catacombs idea.
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

Spread my work ethic, not my wealth.

Forget change, bring back common sense.
-------------------------------------------------

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

I'm not sure why people are so hooked into the idea of having CC be the acronym for this site's name, but if it must be, then perhaps some name along the lines of Conservative Core or Conservative Corps might work. I got the idea for the name Conservative Core while listening to some Republican on TV talking about "core conservative values" or something like that.

The name Conservative Core would be kind of cool since it implies an underground. The name Conservative Corps might also be cool since a lot of people here are either in the military or have friends or family in the military.
