Trump's really going to do the all things he said he'd do. WTF?

Some are already realizing the mistake they made but others still have it coming. Farmers are gonna get a double whammy—tariffs AND deportation of their work force. They're in a panic. Hey guys, unless you voted for Harris/Walz, we don't want to hear it.

Weeding out magas from my life been doing it for a while.

2016 OK you just have bad judgement 2020 not too bright. 2024 after January 6th multiple felonies and sexual assault, you can just **** off.
A large part of my in laws are maga I am fine going no contact. I will be civil for my wife's sake on the unavoidable occasions.

But I have one problem. My BIL and his family might be Trumpsters. They've never come out and said this. They're mostly silent about politics. My wife and my beloved MIL are strong Democrats, so I assumed BIL was, too.

Several years ago I learned that BIL was watching a lot of Fox News and believing falsehoods. We have a feeling he might have voted for Trump, based on little comments...

We rarely see them, but we're getting together this winter to celebrate a milestone birthday for MIL. If BIL makes any little comment, I will speak up. Wife is worried I'll start trouble, which I won't, but only for her sake and especially the sake of my MIL. (Actually, my mother in law is the one most likely to start an argument over politics. She is appalled by Trump. Go, mom. I love that woman.)

Meh. I really wanted to bring over all of the caterwauling so we could all laugh at it later, but it's just too much for one thread.

I have a family member that from 2016-2020 this person posted 3-5 lengthy essays on facebook literally every day on how Orange Man Bad. Then follows 4 years of Biden to which this person posted 3-5 lengthy essays per day on how Orange Man Bad. One would think that 4 years of Biden would have brought some happiness but that is not what happened. I think deep down this person knows the 2020 election was manipulated and that normal people do not appreciate what is happening in our country. I assume from the current volume since the election for thew next four years there will be 3 -5 facebook essays every day on Orange Man Bad. Any one of the responses to the DUmmy thread we are currently enjoying could have come from this family member. I might note that this family member managed to do what many of us consider impossible: got fired from a US government job. Been on "disability" for 28 years now.

Those family bonds are not as strong as they should be if you are willing to break up over politics. My own family has differing views politically, but we are not stupid enough to let it come between us and we rarely talk about it.
