...It really looks like Scott Brown can win Ted Kennedy’s seat in the special election Tuesday. Here’s what to expect if that happens:

* A minor earthquake in Massachusetts due to Ted Kennedy’s buried corpse exploding.

* Numerous resignations, party-switching, and suicides of vulnerable Democrats.

* The Democrats will try to rush their Obamacare bill through the House, not even checking it for errors, and we’ll all wind up with free halth care.

* Obama locking himself in his office, and when he’s told the people want to hear from him, he’ll say, “I’m too awesome for the American people! They don’t deserve me!” This will be followed by loud weeping.

* Left-wing blogs will break down into even more rage and incoherence such that posts will just be made by the bloggers angrily bashing their keyboards with their tiny fists....

Somehow, this doesn't shock me: "A Democratic operative familiar with Martha Coakley and the DSCC's massive get-out-the-vote operation says that outreach workers in and around Boston have been stunned by the number of Democrats and Obama supporters who are waving them off, saying they'll vote for Scott Brown."

I may have been too cautious in my prediction below.

I noted in today's piece on the homepage that the classic Boston/Massachusetts politicians always had great charisma, sense of humor, and retail politics skills — the Kennedys, Tip O'Neill, Joe Moakley. Even if you didn't agree with their positions, they seemed like good guys to have a beer with and always seemed eager to engage with every voter they encountered. In this race, Scott Brown has that quality by the bucketful, and Martha Coakley simply doesn't. And among a decent number of Democrats, that counts for a lot.

That quote is spot-on, thanks!  And also, I think, adds content to exactly what Tip O'Neil meant when he used to say that all politics was local - not necessarily that all politics is determined by strictly local issues - I don't think anyone can really argue that position, although it does have a fair bit of merit when put into the correct perspective - but also, and perhaps more importantly, politics is "local" in the sense of being able to get along with the guys and gals you rub elbows with all day long, the rubes, boobs, and wise-guys you see in the same bar every night.  That sort of "local."

Martha Coakley extended her hand to the police officer at the door and he complied rather unenthusiastically. When her husband, who is a former cop, extended his hand and the officer misses and makes no effort to “reconnect”.

Alright -- What I've seen in the pouring rain in New Bedford when I went to vote today and earlier.
6 Scott Brown signholders
Light turnout of middle aged or young professionally dressed people.
No youth.
No urban culture types. (--not directed at any race... im talking the style)

I am providing this since (as you know) there are no exit polls. The result up until just a couple weeks back seemed predetermined, so the networks felt it was a waste of money. A snippet of visual-only demographics will have to do.

At this point, I can only assume that Obama & Clinton have failed to bring in the Democrat base.

In other Suburban and Rural areas, as well as towns and cities close to Scott Brown's home there is MASSIVE turnout reported. It seems to me, since New Bedford should be a Coakley stronghold, that the large turnout figures may be benefiting Brown, and not Coakley as originally anticipated.

I am still operating though as if Brown is behind - If he is to win, it is going to have to be by a margin larger than fraud can overcome.

Zogby stated pretty much the same thing today, Coakley by a point or less. - I have no illusions that what Scott Brown is attempting isn't damn near impossible. - Like I said, the only way to make it happen is to have a margin of victory so large that fraud cant 'fix' it.
