I am trying to figure out which one to choose from. They seem to be the same with the same prices. What do everyone here use and are you pleased with it?

I thought I read something this week about the two merging soon - that should make your choice easier! :-)

Justice Dept Approves XM-Sirius Deal
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Justice Department approved Sirius Satellite Radio's $5 billion buyout of rival XM Satellite Radio on Monday, saying the deal was unlikely to hurt competition or consumers.
The deal was approved despite opposition from consumer groups and an intense lobbying campaign by the land-based radio industry.
The buyout received shareholder approval in November. The companies said the merger will save hundreds of millions of dollars in operating costs—savings that will ultimately benefit their customers.
The Justice Department, in a lengthy news release explaining its decision, said the two companies compete not just with each other but also with other forms of radio and entertainment.
"The likely evolution of technology in the future, including the expected introduction in the next several years of mobile broadband Internet devices, made it even more unlikely that the transaction would harm consumers in the longer term," the Justice Department said. "Accordingly, the division has closed its investigation of the proposed merger."
XM Satellite shares rose $1.97, or 16.5 percent, to $13.90 in afternoon trading after the government's announcement while Sirius shares rose 28 cents, or almost 10 percent, to $3.18.

Betamax for sure! Much better quality.

I have XM. I bought the XM2GO model which can be used as a portable (belt clip), in your car, or at home. Thought I was going to get commercial free programming. NOT. Every channel has advertising...even the ones they say are "commercial free" have ads for XM Radio, and "special events". :banghead:

I heard the same thing about cable TV in the 70's. Boy, did that turn out to be a disappointment.

My husband's new car came with free XM for three or four months and when his free months were over he said he didn't want it. He said he never really listened to it. He mainly listens to his iPod that he plugs into his car. I'm glad he found out that way, last year before he got this car I was going to get him either XM or Sirius but kept putting it off.

My parents have XM. It's nice... it beats listening to the radio, but it's not something I would spend money on. C. Crane has a wi-fi radio that can pick up streaming radio stations over any internet connection. I'm not sure but I think it also doubles as a satellite radio.

My car radio is already set up for satellite radio (thanks to that obnoxious-looking antenna on the roof that makes it look like an RC car :mental: ).
Just wish I could afford to subscribe. :( The dealership tried to offer me a deal with Sirius, but I told them maybe later. LOL

I'm confused that someone would spend money for something that one can receive for nothing? Our satellite TV provider gives us access to Serius, and I've listened to it a few times, and found their DJ's to be boring, and their playlists short and repetitive.....
If you lived in Montana, 100 miles from a selection of FM stations, I guess that I could see some use for it, but overall, it sounds like a waste of money to me......
YMMV

I don't use either because the ipod is a way better way to go. Plus they can't offer local traffic/ news/ or weather which are the top 3 reasons I have the radio on in the first place.
And no Rush.
I'll wait for HD Radio prices to come down and for them to put in a flash drive so I can pause and rewind like the digital cable DVR.

I bought XM because they carried MLB...Great service no problems. :-)

XM
I bought one for my wife Christmas 2006. I liked it so much I got one for my car and a Nexus for the house/on the go. I've almost given up TV because of XM and that's not a bad thing. :hyper:
-
I like sirius. Radio Margaritaville, Rolling Stones channel, a pretty good Blues channel, and a few other spots.

Actually they do have traffic reports for quite a few large cities.

XM works well. The Fox News Talk is great for us insomniacs.
Know many that spend alot of time driving that love it, as many places you simply cant get a good radio station...
The Direct TV is only the music channels....there is so much more to digital radio...
