Do any of you get leg or foot cramps during the night? I'm getting them about every night now, even though I am prescribed and religiously take potassium and magnesium tablets.
I'll have to talk to my doc about this when I see her in August.

Potassium helped me a lot but, I was able to really resolve the problem with exercise. In my case, it was a pretty aggressive swimming program due to serious back problems. I have heard walking helps a lot too.

Exercise is supposed to help, but my arthritic back and knees don't allow even short walks.

I don't know if it's an old wives tale, but my wife swears by a bar of soap under the bottom sheet close to the foot of the bed.

No cramps last night! :yahoo:

I don't get leg cramps, but I get something like restless leg syndrome some nights. I find that doing some exercises that flex the calves help.

I'm told some people are helped with L-glutamine or Magnesium.

Darn good question, I got them every so often as a kid in the summer when I was spending hours in the lake or running about.
Grandmother called them growing pains, I was very active so it was not lack of activity. Lunch was most times a Banana with peanut butter and Marshmallow Fluff , no lack in diet.
I don't remember getting pains in the winter, just the summer time.
Flash forward 40 years or so, I had not had this problem after I turned 12 and now with the [Change ]
and hot flashes here it came again. Both cramps and restless leg-------
I can go a couple years with none of this foolishness and then have a couple of painfull nights in a row to have it gone again.
Hubby was a skater in his younger years and taught me how to stretch to releave both cramps and restless legs, get a belt and place foot in the loop and put pressure on the belt.
