I think the majority of the nectarines we enjoy are grown in California.  That's sub-tropical if you stretch it.

I bought a quart of peaches today for $4.50 from a farmer I know, at the Albany Farmer's Market at the Empire State Plaza in Albany.  He was selling them as fast as he could refill the quart containers.  (He also had these golden plums which are pretty good, too, and he was selling them hand-over-fist.)

At that price, they must have been organic nectarines. That organic stuff is really expensive here.

Georgia peaches were at Food City on Saturday for 85 cents/lb.

I didn't pay much attention to the nectarines the other day, but last time I did, they were less than 1.50/lb.

If you buy an apple or something at Subway it is about $1.30 and at a local coffee shop all the fruit is $1 each.

I'm rich so when I buy apples at the store I never pay attention to how much they are and I never buy only one so I am not sure what they cost there but I am pretty sure it is well under the premium Subway and the coffee shop charges.

I'm thinking if the DUmmie went to a regular grocery store it would be less expensive.  I've never been to Beverly Hills but I heard the apples at the Aldis there start at like $2,400 but they are also gold plated and diamond studded.

I've also heard there are like these pears that are $5 each but from people who've eaten them, I have heard they are worth every penny.

Actually, here in the pacific northwest (we are to apples what Florida is to oranges) our apples won't be ready until late fall so apples are a bit more expensive, depending on variety.
