Title: new problem
Post by: franksolich on May 30, 2013, 09:09:34 PM
There's something here I'm not "getting."

What do I do next?

Change your default search provider or set up a new one.

Change your default search provider or set up a new one.

Do you recommend a particular one?  That's part of my confusion.  I wonder why Bing is no good.

I still use Google.  I don't think Bing is that great.

I think the "Ask" toolbar gets installed with some legitimate update, but I still don't like it.  I'd delete it and stick with google for the preferred search engine.

I did what Chris_ told me to do, and then after shutting down and restarting, it's all working fine now.

Make sure you check the box to prevent programs from suggesting changes to your default search provider.

Sorry.

I see those a lot.  I updated Avast! recently and it tried to push that crap on me.

You have to pay attention... those things are sneaky.

They're always "opt out" options with the box already checked.  They count on people just clicking "next".
