If Bobo had gotten off her sorry ass and did some work, she would be in a position to help out and advocate for the impoverished.

You cannot solve a problem from the same level of thinking that created the problem, to paraphrase the Big E.  And if you are poor, you can barely advocate for yourself, let alone others.
