The freeze would take effect on Jan. 1, pending Congressional approval by the end of this year. The 2012 pay freeze will be proposed as part of fiscal 2012 budget proposals to be unveiled early next year.

~snip~

The decision will save the government about $2 billion for the remainder of fiscal year 2011 and $28 billion over the next five years, the White House said. The long-term savings come from lowering the government's base compensation over the next two years.

I hear that middle-class working families don't deserve any cost of living adjustments.
That recirculating those potential increases into our economy by these families purchasing for their needs is just not worth it in your mind.

However...$7,000,000,000 PER MONTH IN AFGHANISTAN for the next 3 or so years is just ****ing dandy in your mind.

I am this close to registering Green Party. The ONLY and I mean the ONLY reason, at this point, that I would vote for Obama again would be out of fear of who a Repuke President would appoint to the SCOTUS.

When he took office I had no idea. Call me naive but I really thought that...oh...forget it.

The freeze will save $5 billion in two years which is the amount of deficit spending per day under Lord Obama.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Please do--fracturing the Dem party into the 1000 assorted commie/socialist/liberal splinter groups would ensure America STAYS a conservative country for the foreseeable future.

Do it, you spineless *****.

I really don't have a problem with it, and I have no use for the Oministration at all.  Where's your sense of shared sacrifice, ya whiner?

It beats the living shit out of a pay cut, doesn't it?  After all, besides a lack of stomach for it, there is nothing that really stops Congress from deciding they just pay too much for the Executive branch, and then arbitrarily 'recalibrating' the entire GS pay schedule about 10% down across the board.  The unions couldn't even do anything about it, since civil service pay rates are non-negotiable.

Take federal pay back to 2006 levels!
