Annual Memorial Day Concert On The Mall
« on: May 26, 2008, 04:55:25 AM »
Once again it was a memorable program to watch.

Sadly, Charles Durning isn't as deeply involved in the concert by hosting it.  He made a brief appearance.  He doesn't look like he's fairing very well.  He was a Ranger who landed at Normandy, fought across France, fought at the Battle of the Bulge until captured and luckily escaped the Malmedy Massacre.

The program will never be the same without Ossie Davis being the MC.

As usual they had a tear jerking moment when they presented the life and death struggle of two members of the 173rd Abn Bde and their families.

On this day in 1969, John Lennon and Yoko Ono began an eight-day 'bed in', in room 1742 of The Hotel La Reine Elizabeth, Montreal, Canada, to promote world peace.  The promotion failed.  It is impossible to promote "world peace" by staging a "bed-in" while being "in bed" with the communists, socialists, liberals, fascist and the rest of the radically insane groups who want to rule the world.

Thanks for posting. I watch it every year. I always need lots of kleenex.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle
