BREAKING : Grayson Team Manipulated the "Taliban Dan" Advertisement

Very sad face here :   because I have said time and again how Grayson is one of my Progressive faves .

That "Taliban Dan" video? The one where Grayson berates his political opponent, Republican Daniel Webster, for telling woman that ""Wives submit yourself to your own husband" and then making a rightful comparison from fundamentalism to the Taliban?

Apparently it wasn't true.
Apparently while looking at the entire video what Webster was saying was :
"...I have verses for my wife. Don’t pick the ones that say, ‘She should submit to me.’ That’s in the Bible, but pick the ones that you’re supposed to do. So instead, ‘love your wife, even as Christ loved the Church and gave himself for it’ as opposed to ‘wives submit to your own husbands. ...’

In other words exactly the opposite of what Grayson clipped out of that video.

This is especially disappointing to me and I will be eagerly listening to Grayson's response. This is not how I want my Democrats to run a campaign.

We are supposed to be better.

Supposed to be better at not getting caught is what the DUmmie really means.

perhaps you should write them a polite strongly worded letter.

Smear ads are fine when your candidate does it, right?

Edited on Tue Sep-28-10 08:08 PM by Techn0Girl
as you suggest without needing to resort to doctoring video - as Grayson apparently did.

Why would his campaign do this?
It's going to cost him credibility , credibility that equates to votes this election. And Grayson is right on the fence as it is with respect to voters in heavily Republican Florida.

Frankly I would have reservations about voting for him myself after seeing this. What Grayson says and does with respect to this revelation now may be critical in the eyes of many voters - certainly it would in mine.

I am left dumbfounded as to why Grayson's campaign would shoot themselves in the foot like this when Webster is such an easy target in so very many ways.

Careful, the dough is being tossed.

All is fair in Politics especially campaigns.
Grayson is smart enough to move on to the next attack.

Hey Stooooopid DUmmie, Grayson has been caught doing this in two ads so far. All he has is lies and damn lies.

The Republicans are supposed to use those tactics on us.

Why? The truth is damaging enough, which is why so many Dems are NOT campaigning on what they have "accomplished" under the rule of "The Won".

I like Grayson's straight forwardness and have donated to his campaign. But he's got some 'splainin' to do.

His voting record is good. Why does he have to go and do sleazy shit like this?

Because he is a DemonRat.

This is soooo disgusting.  What are those Grayson loons thinking?  Trust is a huge issue this year.  Who can you trust to tell you the truth and not blow smoke up your ass all the time?  And then they come out with this crap.  Everything from here on out from Grayson is suspect as a lie.  And it should tar all the demos.

I was able to easily picture the committee or whatever sitting around a table, coming up with the ad.  Chortling like the DUmmies that they are, so self-congratulatory on their own perceived cleverness.  Aren't we funny!

More bad news for liberal fascists, Webster is up by 7. Wait until the truth comes out about the grayson lying ads.

And here is the essence of liberalism.

Liberals complain that RWers are theocratic tyrants but when pressed for evidence all they have are tragically doctored videos.

Then, when confronted with their fraud their only response is, "Well, we all know RWers are worse."

Webster should run an ad on Grayson wanting everyone to submit to goverment health care.

Have yall ever noticed the dems have to distort what is said by a conservative to attack them.
A conservative just has to show what a dem actually says to get them.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

47. The GOP can falsely claim the left supports terrorists ... no one blinks.

But you do support terorists.

You supported the insurgents in Iraq. The AFL-CIO funded that whore who planned attacks at the 2008 RNC and who met with the recently kiled FARC commander.

Oh, and you voted for Bill Ayers' cabana boy.

But you do kill babies.

You do want to centrally control the economy.

I am saddened by his response.
Grayson is entirely correct (in your link) that Webster does have a terrible woman's right's record.

What he doesn't do is own up to his ad and let it be known that it was out of order - an outright lie in point of fact.

Let's see if his response "matures" over the coming days as this makes the media rounds.
Representative Grayson has lost a lot of credibility in my own eyes today.
And I was a huge fan of his here from the beginning.

The viewpoints of the Institute speak for themselves, and the issues on which Grayson attacks Webster are based on the fact the the Institute holds the exact same views featured in Grayson's ad. Webster truly is Taliban Dan, and both his membership in the Institute and his record on women's rights speak for themselves.

I routinely attack Democrats from the left, but Alan Grayson is a man who routinely stands up for progressive principles and who is willing to break his ****ing back to make life better for the average American (a position that more Democrats and every single Republicn ought to emulate). In this instance Grayson is right on the money about Webster, about the GOP, and about the radical right. He should stick to his guns.

n addition, Kipling stated that Grayson's campaign had a glaring omission. During 1988, when Grayson had just turned thirty and while working for the Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson law firm, he spent four days in the Psychiatric Institute of Washington. What the cause of this stay was is yet unclear, although testimony from co-workers suggests that Grayson was extremely combative with fellow employees, including slapping a female intern in the face. Grayson was released after PIW doctors declared him "not to be a threat to the public."

See, this just proves the need for national health care.

When someone like Alan Grayson can just be allowed to walk freely out of a mental hospital its time for the government to step in and make sure nothing like this happens ever again.
