Laura Bush ordered and recieved a $485,000 china set for the White House just two weeks before getting kicked out.

I had never heard of this tradition but apparently the outgoing president's wife designs china to leave to the next administration for their use for state dinners.  The dummies do not like this at all.  There a few of the more intelligent dummies who try to explain - repeatedly - to the other dummies about this tradition.  The Texan nutcase (lonestarnot) makes an appearance towards the end.  Do these people even read?

11. It's custom and tradition in recent presidencies. And the taxpayers aren't paying for it.
   
If Obama serves two full terms, Michelle will no doubt design some china and the private foundation will order it up for her to put in the White House collection, too. The successors to that administration will entertain using it.

I will say that the china that Laura designed is very tasteful. It will look good at a state dinner. It's a damned sight better than that ghastly red stuff that Nancy came up with, anyway.

33. Get some info. The Bushes have used the Clinton china, among others.  It takes so long to design the stuff and then make it, that its customary to present the china at the end of the term.  It took Hillary Clinton two years just to finish the design (and I'm sure she was working with professionals). Then it takes years to make.

The Bush daughters spent very little time in the Whitehouse, dummie, unlike say the much younger daughters of Obama will.  Here's an idea, feed his kids in the kitchen and keep them away from the good china.
