How do I find out how much memory my computer's using, and where the problem (too much memory being used) is located?
Thanks; it's a real problem.

Would this be any part of the problem? I had it removed.

Frank...
- press "start" or whatever it's called on windows 8 and type "taskmgr" and press enter
- a window will pop up similar to this:
- press the "show processes from all users" button near the bottom.
At this point, you can click the "memory" title at the top of the memory column and it will sort by usage. If you are not quite sure what something is, you can right-click the process itself and select "open file location" to help you investigate exactly what it is. A google search for the whatever.exe filename can help you figure out what unknown processes are

Thank you, sir, but that's not the task manager that I get on this computer.
Sometime later today I'll post screen-captures of my task manager when Explorer is on conservativecave, on freerepublic, and on Skins's island, in which case one's going to notice a GIGANTIC difference in usage of memory.
The problem being, the task manager won't tell me what's so special about conservativecave that it's usually consuming circa 93% of the memory on the computer.
But wait for me to post this stuff first, so one may see with his own eyes.

In firefox, I've noticed the biggest culprits for me are... sometimes the addons (including adblock which I refuse to live without) and my bad habit of having far too many tabs open at once.
-
oh I forgot to mention...
In firefox, I have sometimes found this to help
- open a new tab and in the address bar where you would normally input a url, type in "about:memory"
- There is a button called "minimize memory usage" if you click that, it will to a garbage cleanup and flush everything. It's not a do-it-once and it's fixed thing though. when I start noticing problems, I'll try doing that first instead of closing and restarting the browser and the majority of the time it helps

Get Glary Utilities. It's free and will break down all memory usage and even rates the app as to other users input. It'll let you stop Terminate Stay Resident (TSR) programs. You'll actually know what the hell is going on with your system and able to make changes.
