A private intelligence company issued a dire warning on Dec. 24 about Donald Trump supporters plotting a violent insurrection on Jan. 6.
SITE Intelligence Group sent the bulletin, which described in detail the plans being discussed on pro-Trump online forums, to law enforcement agencies and other subscribers more than a week before the riot, which undercuts arguments that authorities failed to respond appropriately because they were unaware of the threat, reported Politico.
"The intelligence was there," said Ryan Shapiro, the executive director of Property of the People. "The agencies had it, Capitol police leadership had it, yet they approached this obvious threat from the far right with a startling degree of nonchalance. Contrast this with the hypervigilant, militaristic state responses to peaceful protests by Black Lives Matter and other progressive groups. Jan. 6 wasn't an intelligence failure. It was a political failure by U.S. intelligence and law enforcement."
Rita Katz, the founder and executive director of SITE, told the website that the response was the most "profound failure to act" she has seen in decades of sharing information with the U.S. government.
"A potpourri of communities overtly strategized to storm the Capitol building and arrest — if not outright kill — public officials and carry out a coup," Katz said.
"Law enforcement officials were alerting their superiors and other agencies to the threats SITE had identified — many of which ended up manifesting that day, just as they were written," Katz added. "These warnings were distributed by the FBI and other agencies well before Jan. 6."

2. The sad irony being, of course, how many of those coup- and official-killing-planning Trump supporters were also law enforcement/cops.
They know themselves but don't listen to their own warnings about themselves.

Acting Secretary of Defense Miller sent a letter in writing over his signature Jan 4 (pretty certain about the date) requiring the DC NG to get extra special permission from the highest levels before deploying.
There was also the (advisory?) panel tRump appointed with Lewandowsksi and that couch kneeling woman. I think they may have had some role in the blockage.
Esper had been fired because by Nov 9 it was clear even to tRump that some combination of coup or subversion of officials or insurrection was the only way to get a second term. Esper was not going to be reliable to go along with the insurrection part because he had already defied tRump in the summer of 2020 over sending troops to "defend" against the summer protests (tRump knew it would only escalate the situation, his goal to make carnage so he could claim to "fix it". That lead to tRump snatching people off the streets in unmarked vans by ragtag bands of seconded border guards, prison guards and others making up a deputized force of about 200.

4. It's not the first time in recent history, either. Ditto what RockRaven says.
And why I suspect the FBI of a pro-white male Republican bias. If there has been any foot-dragging about apprehending and bringing Jan 6 funders, plotters and participants to justice, it's from the FBI and law enforcement, not the DOJ.

The House investigators must know by now which of the Republican flunkies were in the chain-of-intentional-fail, and which of them followed and passed on Republican ORDERS that no doubt dribbled down, sneakily and sleazily, from their foul-mouthed, lie-infested Republican Casino-Hustler-in-Chief.
Name the Republican traitors. Charge them, try them, convict them, and then lock them up.

Accused by some for vigilantism and falsely accusing Islamic organizations of being terrorist groups so take this article with a grain of salt.
If the report reinforced your world view, you'll accept it without question.

14. after the plot to kidnap whittmer came out, nobody should have or could have been surprised.
there was no failure here. the stand down order might have been the hardest part of the coup to pull off, but pull it off they did.
the plot which was planned and led by the FBI informants?

19. I used to do Pro Bono work for a very large group of Texas police officers (16,000 members).
I went to 3 annual conventions they held where AG, now governor, Abbot and then governor Rick Perry were keynote speakers. I was the only openly Democrat in attendance. They tolerated me because of what I had done for them. The strange thing was that several cops would take me aside privately and confess they voted for Democrats but could not admit it for fear of reprisal and termination. It is that bad in law enforcement!

28. It was everywhere
I get that it’s unnerving to follow right wing forums but in my free time I was reading/participating on theDonald fairly regularly and this was damn obvious. It didn’t take some special organization to figure it out. These were heavily trafficked public forums.
I was telling everyone around me what was going to happen. I took screenshots of all the planned violence and even was aware of specific threats like bombings. It wasn’t exactly hidden to the world. I felt a little ridiculous sending the info the the FBI at the time, because I was sure they were monitoring it. My family thought I was crazy for telling them what was gonna happen on the 6th.
To find out this was such a mystery to so many people is incredibly frustrating. It actually turned out a little less violent than I anticipated.
People need to wake up and put in a little time following and talking to these nuts if possible. They want to kill us next.
