No batteries required, keeps excellent time even during a power outage, chimes on the hour and half-hour,........and it looks like a clock. Ansonio made this one in 1842, and I'll pass it on to somebody deserving of a fine timepiece.

Excellent looking timepiece. Those just don't get made like that anymore, save perhaps in the Black Forest or in Switzerland.

Tis true, though there are still fine USA clocks made by Chelsea.

atomic beam magnetic resonance
Ammonia molecule
cesium (since the 50's, first in UK then here), NBS1 through 7, currently NIST-F1
