I Love President Obama

I love President Obama.

The man has moved this country forwarded in a way that will only be acknowledged by historians. He took over with an economy that sinking, a country at war, and a culture that looked on the verge of going backwards.

On the economy, he has followed practical politics that limited the recession. He passed a Health Care Bill that expands coverage and will limit insane medical inflation that would have destroyed the economy. He passed a stimulus that stopped unemployment from reaching above 11 percent ( http://content.usatoday.com/communities/onpolitics/post/2010/02/cbo-unemployment-would-have-topped-11-without-stimulus/1 ) . He passed Dodd-Frank which begins to regulate dangerous trading and banking practices. He has practically given us policies that have helped us dig out of the economic gloom that he inherited .

He has taken our country out of Iraq and has followed sane policies in Afghanistan. He is beginning to restructure US defense policy to meet the future security environment, deal with threats to this country, and do so in a way this country can afford.

He has ended Don't Ask, Don't Tell, one of the biggest civil rights achievements in a generation. He has highlighted issues, such as contraception, and will use it to continue to fight for progressive policies. In a debate and a contract with Rick Santorum, I think that President Obama clearly represents the future of this country.

I love the President. I see many threads that call him "center-right" etc. He is not an "Eisenhower" Republican. He is a modern Democratic President and has done a great job in leading the government over the past 3 years. We should be thankful for what we have and understand that it isn't the 1950s (Eisenhower didn't really do much to stop what was going in the South, FYI) nor is it the 1930s. The policies that he has followed are politically possible in 2012 and are also good policies in 2012. The policies of 1930s or the 1950s will not work in 2012. We are living in a different World now and one should not keep their thinking static concerning what policies are “good” or “bad”. Much of what he has done would have been unthinkable for Americans during either the 1930s or 1950s and are huge moves forwarded.

I love the President, and I think DUers should also fully support him. He has accomplished a lot and I trust him to continue to lead the nation after 2012.

But the timetable for withdrawing U.S. troops in Iraq was decided during the Bush administration with the signing of the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) by U.S. and Iraq officials on Nov. 16, 2008. The Iraqi parliament signed SOFA on Nov. 27, 2008.

The agreement, which had been in negotiations since 2007, set a timetable calling for most U.S. troops to leave Iraqi towns and cities by June 30, 2009, with about 50,000 troops left in place until the final withdrawal of all U.S. military forces by Dec. 31, 2011.

Canada, late 1940's.   Some one got the good idea to place the kids on the Indian tribal land into the hands of the Catholic run orphanage's.  Parents died and the tribe could not support them, seemed like a good idea at the time.

First thing these kids brought  in, they were taught was they would be punished if they spoke their family language, had to learn English and even one word of family language got them punished.------Talking about 3-6 year old.

Anyone older then 6 that that even spoke about family religion or traditions  saw server punishment.

Cranky and weird Nuns and Priest ran the Orphanage, way out in the middle of no where.  Not one thing familiar to the kids from their background, no one that had any understanding of who they were or where they came from, just odd rules that if broken got one a belt.

Strange life for the kids, like living on the moon, nothing was at all the same.  Family's religion and traditions were  said to be Evil, if a child saw a butterfly and called it by the name their Grand mother had, they were punished.

Priests raping young boys today is nothing like what went on back then in orphanages, girls also and the Nuns were about half crazy.

Out of a family of 7 kids whose parents died and ended up there only 4 survived, the others committed suicide and one ran off never to be seen again.  My friends family.

Few years ago Canada closed down the Orphanage and tried to find the survivors of the place to with the Church give them money and a apology.

My thanks go to Bob Sabartis-[ Black Bear] and his family that did survive and become American Citizens.   Most of the Original kids have died but the survivors, their children and their children will never know the whole truth about the Concentration Camp that their parents either escaped from or if the survived from were at age 18 thrown out into the wilderness with just the clothing on their back.

Disturbs me Frank that you laugh at someone being raped by a nun---rape means many things, yet I have yet to hear your input on the male children that can prove they were physically raped by a Priest.  I am so glad my boys were Alter boys for such a short time, all kids in Catholic school only 4-5 years.

The crap they faced in public schools was bad enough but had any of this stuff happend in religious schools, all kids would have become Atheist's   that would have been a darn shame.

Far as my friend for some reason those that survived, they remained life long Catholics, after all they witnessed and lived through, this is a WTF moment for me.

I think someone should rework/reword and record this old country tune in preparation for the 2012 election.....

"Thank God and Greyhound he's gone....."

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Historians are going to have a very tough time between 0bama or Carter as the worst president of the USA.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

The FarLeftFist primitive is a pain in the ass; I think I'm going to start watching him, to see if he has talent for the Top DUmmies of 2012.  Earlier today he told a bouncy about how, as a little lad, he had been raped by a Catholic nun.  Yeah, yeah, sure, sure.

Good grief!!! I might believe him if he had said a Catholic Priest! There were a heck of a lot of pedophiles pretendin' to do good, but sure as hell were preyin' on boys!

A Nun, not a chance!! This is nuttin' more than a fanyasy and wishful thinkin'!
