Christmas menu?

We do things al ittle different...I don't make a big dinner, instead, I make a bunch of appetizers and we hang out in our jammies and snack all day!

Our menu this year includes:

Boneless Buffalo wings
Queso dip
Spinach dip
guacamole
Little smokies in bbq sauce
Cookies of various sorts
Fudge
Summer sausage and crackers


And I'm sure there's something else that I can't think of right now...lol


What are you all having?

That sounds wonderful!  We're going visiting, so other than the PITA of getting everyone out the door on time, no cooking for me!  We'll probably end up having all the traditionals at my brother-in-law's house (which is where everyone's going this year).

I go to the boyfriend's family for Christmas, so no cooking for me.  Just baking lots of cookies and candy.  NYE, I am having people over, so I get to keep all the Christmas up at home, and be festive.  

I will be making:

Mushrooms stuffed with Brie
Cranberry Chutney over cream cheese
Pumpkin dip with Gingersnaps
Buffalo Chicken dip
French dip Roast, for sandwiches, with potato rolls
And, assorted vegetables and other stuff.

I'm in the midst of a break....as ours is tonight.

Sit down dinner for 12....and so far there are 4 "drop-ins" who are eating with other family members...which means they will eat here too....


Platter of shrimp w cocktail sauce
Small antipasta tray w cheeses, olives and summer sausage

Beef tenderloin w horseradish sauce, bernaise
Sauteed garlic mushrooms
Potato cheese casserole
Steamed broccoli w lemon butter sauce
Romaine w multi-colored peppers, red onion, cucumber, grape tomatoes, raspberry vinegrette

Butter topped Sister Schubert rolls

Creme brulee
Pecan tarts
Mincemeat tarts w B & B
Cinnamon whipped cream



I've done basically the same meal for the last 15 Christmases...so it's really easy.
Especially this year as I cut out a stuffed tenderloin, a NY cheesecake w raspberry Chambord sauce and a creme de menthe cheese cake. I also went to store bought rolls instead of me making them from scratch. I've become more sensible in my old age.... :uhsure:

My potatoes are baking, and I've made a double batch of Chex Mix this morning, a tray of peppermint bark, been to Mass, Target and Kroger's, and it's only 10:45.....I must be nuts!! :thatsright:

I did the same thing for Christmas as I did for Thanksgiving for 15 years and celebrated on Christmas Day...then when Michael and I got together we wanted to make "our" Christmas memories and that's how we ended up with what we do...

Usually do Cornish Game Hens.  But, this year the requests came in for lasagna! 

I like it all, so looking forward to the meal.

Assorted hot h'ordeurves (the puff pastry and quiche thingies you get at Costco in the frozen section)
Cold antipasto (assorted cheeses, roasted red peppers, assorted olives, sun dried tomatoes, sharp provolone, soppressata (italian cured sausage)
Hot garlic bread
Shrimp Coctail

2nd course
Ravioli Marinara

3rd course
Herb crusted/apple roast pork tenderloin
Sweet Potato casserole with marshmallow topping
Green salad with blue cheese dressing
Sauteed broccoli florets with garlic olive oil

Dessert:  my guests will bring them
Tiramisu/mom
Italian pastries/sister in law

Christmas Day is my day to cook.... :-)

Prime Rib slow cooked in the Nesco.
Garlic Mashed Potatoes.
Steamed Broccoli.
Steamed Cabbage.
Mushrooms (sauteed)
Whole Grain Rolls.
Green Bean casserole.

Dessert:

Raspberry Kringle sent to us as a gift that is from some Amish Bakery
in PA and which has, roughly, the density of plutonium and which brings strong
men to their knees and which can loosen the heart and skirt buttons of any maiden.
It cures cancer and the only reason Chuck Norris still lives is because this Kringle
doesn't want him dead.

Thor fixed A spiral ham with ground clove and homemade cranberry glaze,Candied yams,Green bean casserole,Mashed potatoes and Potato rolls.

I fixed Cherry cheesecake and Key lime pie.

We had 2 young men without families from the VFW come over. Very enjoyable.

mmmm.. General Tso's.

We found a recipe for the sauce, and now can have it any time. The sauce always seemed so complex that we never thought we could make it at home, but it's pretty simple actually.

I think it's three ingredients... rice wine, rice vinegar, and sugar.  It does taste good.
