I guess I fell asleep and missed this.

Where did these stolen valor pics come from?

Guys, I think there may not be as much to this as is being bandied about.  If OS was at one of the obscure TV conventions he likes to attend, he is most likely playing dress up.  If he starts claiming some kind of military service while wearing that abomination of a "uniform" (ie costume), then he needs a visit from the good and decent veterans of Bellevue.

I will never attempt to defend the indefensible, but this is one where he was just being a little kid at a costume party.

That's my take on it as well.  Trust me, I never want to be in a position where I have to defend that POS, but in this case I think you have it right.

That had been my point from the start, about two pages ago.

I didn't figure the big guy was craven enough to actually try to pose as a military personage--he's pretty stupid and dishonest, but not in that way--but it bothered me considerably that a 57-soon-to-be-58-year-old still likes to dress up in Halloween costumes.  It's not the level of maturity and judgement that voters demand.

True, Coach, but basketball-playing high school girls might like him more that way.

Oh, I know.  It just seemed that things were heading from a "look at the dork" perspective to Stolen Valor accusations.

Just throwing in my thoughts and observations as it were.

That is exactly what it is. He's just palying dress up or wearing a costume to a convention. Pretty much harmless unless he says he served which I have never ever heard him claim at anytime that I have known him. There is nothing that can be done about it and I think it needs to be dropped now.

Frank. You would be surprised at just how many people go to conventions and wear costumes. Granted the older the person the less likely you see it but it happenes.

The big, hairy, sweaty guy is still MIA, forty-eight hours after the Big Bear's Bar Blowout.

If you're arrested for DUI in Nebraska, how long are you in the slammer if no one bails you out?

It could be that, or maybe Socialist Steve is preparing to roll out his big Socialism Is Great strategy on Monday.

He gave up honesty for Lent, but maybe next week he'll turn over a new leaf, baring his political soul to the Ward 1 voters.

Nah, democrats claim they don't have souls.

Maybe he's busy updating his 'McHale's Navy' uniform for the next ComiCon.

Those are the brass "US" that are pinned on the collar of class "A". I think that they're both "US", which is wrong.

Yeah, one should say US, the other your branch insignia.

Wasp,

Steve Dawes is playing dress-up, which comes in #2 on the creepy list behind his fetish for high school basketball players. But the law,  18 USC 704(a), does not make a distinction for playing dress-up. It's illegal.

Steve Dawes made a promise. Steve Dawes failed to deliver. Is this the kind of commitment to his word that the citizens of Bellevue can expect, if Steve Dawes is elected to City Council?
