But no, he has to announce it on, of all places, Skins's island, well- and widely-known as a hate site.
It's true that by withdrawing now, Omaha Steve would be subject to some, oh, some catcalls and jeering, including from us, but those would be short-lived and over with quickly--probably in a few days--whereas if he persists in running, well, there's ten months of that ahead for him.
There's pain in it either way, but one way is considerably less pain, less embarrassment.
