There are 25+ locked threads on the front page of DU3's "Soapbox" forum

More locked than unlocked at the top of the page, from the looks of things.

4. many of the threads that are locked aren't negative or smart alecky at all
Apparently you just can't use the Soapbox forum to talk about DU or its features, even in a positive way, which I find odd.

That said, though, DU3 looks pretty cool. I'm looking forward to the jump

15. I *think* that alerted posts get sent to a random jury pool.
And the jury decides if it's worth locking or deleting or whatever.

I haven't yet sat on a jury, so I'm not completely sure that's how it works, but that's what I'm getting from people commenting on it. You can also opt out if you don't want to make those decisions.

6.  This could turn into a war game to see which DU political grouping can lock the most posts!

Let the games begin!

I can see DU turning into a real lovefest with everyone who doesn't like or agree with a post locking down hundreds of threads.

Meanwhile 150,000 or so DU'ers will flee for saner and more democratic discussion pastures!

Is this "jury" thing a serious proposal or is Skinner just having some fun with us?

OK now Skinner. Stop that. It's no longer funny!

Oh yes it is.  :lmao:

Why would a jury decided whether or not to lock a thread?  Shouldn't DU have a committee for that?

It's not a jury. It's one or two radicals that hate everything, everybody has ever posted on DU3 and are now taking revenge!.

Stinky dude gatekeeper at the soapbox forum, a couple of militant bull dykes keeping dissent down at the alphabet forum. Who next will be crowned by Skinner and company to stop the barbarians at the gate and keep the purity of expressed thought within the narrow confines of whatever the gatekeepers want to talk about, nothing else.

Poor Seabeyond over there...she's a plaintive bleating voice in the wilderness, "Where is my GD?  Where is my GD?"

That is amazing though, that many locked threads.  It makes it look like a...what?  An insane asylum for the most serious cases.  No cheerful breakrooms with The Price is Right on the TV, no supportive group sessions.  Only meds and straps.

It's entertaining that there are DUmmies out there that buy this number of "active" posters.

Could the implementation of DU3 actually turn out to be the Great Discombobulation we've been waiting for?

You know, sir, I'd forgotten all about that; my sense that a Great Discombobulation would happen this year on Skins's island.

In the back of my mind, I guess I was always thinking the wallduding of the bitter old Vermontese cali primitive by another primitive was the convulsion of the year for the primitives, but maybe not.

Did you happen to notice a granite pizza delivered by SubAtomic to MADem a while back?  I had forgoten all about it until I saw your reference to cali.

Well, that too was big, along with the passing of Chief S itting Bull this year, and now the passing of the worthless freeloading bum the wily primitive.

I'm not sure, really, what the "big event" was on Skins's island this year.

For years, when doing the Top DUmmies thing, I contemplated adding a category, the "biggest event" (such as the bobbling primitive getting the Bostonian Drunkard temporarily exiled from Skins's island back in 2009), but just never got around to doing it.

That means that suicide runs will get scrubbed even faster than before. Also, that they really want to limit the amount of truth allowed to be posted at DU3.
