Also, let's not be as silly as DU is and try to imagine that you guys aren't going to slam me with personal attacks left and right if a debate does happen. Then again, I have my own little pet issues - but you guys couldn't hurt me on them. What hurt me was the so-called "progressives" attacking it. The same "progressives" that care oh-so-much on paper (except checkbook paper). You guys are expected not to care. The left is - although once again, it bears repeating that DU ain't left. It's liberal, and that's something else entirely.

Although please do not take DU as an example of the left. The left laughs at DU, as it does at all "liberals" and "progressives" (liberals scared to call themselves liberals).

Out of complete curiosity, what websites or forums do "people of the left" go to?  My grandparents were democrats back in the day, but they weren't liberals by any means.  So, if old school democrats really exist, where do they hang out on the web?  I would love to read what they think, because when my grandparents spoke about politics, they sounded pretty conservative to me.

And about the avatar, if anyone could pm me about how to do that, I would appreciate it.  I just want to load something off the web, not a personal picture.

You think that conservatives care about nothing except how to become wealthy and liberals are supposed to be altruistic and compassionate.
You dance slightly around acknowledging that isn`t true but take an honest look now at what the left is as represented by the DUmp or Kos.
It is non stop GIMME GIMME,I want,take from them so I can have more,etc.

That is the basis of leftist economics you claim to adhere to.

Welcome! Many of us have lefty friends and family.  Generally, we don't disown someone because their political leanings are different. If you don't really want to debate politics look around.  We have plenty of areas devoted to other interests. Might help everyone get to know you without an ideological debate.

We'll see how you do. I can only speak for myself but I will attest to the fact that the folks here, including the mods, will give you a much fairer shake than the sans DNA sludge life-forms at the DUmp if you want to honestly debate.
