Just wondering. And for the record, I voted for Obama over Hillary, and it wasn't because he was black, but because I liked his policies, energy, and the idea that he could help the country recover from George W., who I actually voted for (much to my everlasting regret).

So now comes Hillary again, and already I hear folks either accusing others of supporting her simply due to her sex - or - saying that they support her but that their support has nothing to do with her sex.

But so what if it does? What if I want to vote for Hillary (or Warren if she were to run) simply because I think it would be good for women (and our culture in general) to have a female president? What if I think it would help the status of women (especially older women) in our country to have her in office, and what is wrong with my thinking that and voting for her for that reason? Would I still not be voting for a solid reason?

Also, being a resident of a rural county in the Bible Belt, I have heard men say they won't for a woman, period. One even said a woman had no business being elected to any office. Isn't that just problematic as voting for a woman because she is a woman?

3. Yes, it is a silly reason.

The leader of the free world ought to have much more serious reasons to be elected than gender.
This is the person with a finger on the nuclear button. I would want something more than gender or "It's her turn." to decide who becomes responsible for a nuclear arsenal.

Would you vote for Sarah Palin if she were the only woman running? (I would, but I'm a Tea Party Conservative)

Hillary has some serious baggage. A recent poll by Politico (liberal biased) said her numbers were falling due to the public finding her untrustworthy. Lies, corruption, scandals follow her everywhere.

I could respect your views better if you were voting for Elizabeth Warren. She is a solid liberal, who (apart from claiming she was an Indian to get a high paying job at a university) isn't otherwise known for spin and lies.

because I agree with you.

Voting for a woman just because she's a woman kind of puts the female candidate's views on the back burner. It also makes those women voters look a bit silly. Why fight for gender equality, if all it takes to get votes is female plumbing.

No, but I remember hearing a man say they wouldn't vote for her because she was a woman, which really irritated me as much as I disagree with Palin politically.
Conservative women don't count. and then we resort to a bouncy to justify her dismissal.
