The female M&M is totally sexualized. The males are not.

see a pic of the female M&M being stalked here: http://blog.sfgate.com/mmagowan/2012/05/12/new-mms-package-shows-female-getting-stalked/

What are kids supposed to think about females and males when they repeatedly see these kinds of narratives? The gender stereotyping in the animated world is extreme and it’s damaging in the same way that people finally caught on that it was wrong to use a cartoon camel to sell cigarettes to kids.
Ms. Green is everywhere: on TV, at Party City stores, in toys, games, magazines, and billboards. There is no way to protect our kids from seeing this offensive stereotype. Not to mention it’s candy marketed to kids.
Please go to M&Ms Facebook page and ask them to stop sexualizing female M & Ms. Our kids deserve more than to see females depicted in this degrading way.

Actually the male M&M acts like a fool, but who gives a crap, the candy is damn good, especially the peanut butter M&M's and the new coconut M&M's.
Don't care for M&M's at all.
Absolutely detest milk chocolate. Yuck!
Coconut :puke:
Margot...you really need to get over yourself, get a life and get a real job. And as you suggested, I did go to M&M's Facebook page and I told them to keep up the good work and that the ads are hilarious...unless you are so uptight that you have completely lost any semblance of a sense of humor.
You have totally misinterpreted the artwork on the wrapper. The guy M & M is a Democratic Spy doing Obama's footwork. He's checking out the fine, conservative 'green' lady M & M so he can play on redistributing her wealth.
Amazing! You've managed to make an M&Ms add into a feminist platform against sexism! Your insecurities are evident, but your jealousy of a green cartoon M&M is just weird. Why is it that women who have never been objectified by a man are the most up in arms about the objectification of women?! And in this case, over a cartoon candy? Only in SF could this sort of paranoia be considered printable. Margo you're just looking too hard for affirmation that you have value in this line of work and in this world. You should just become a man.
Coconut :puke:
Something is wrong with you. I love all chocolate. That's disgusting crap. No flavor, sugar, milk, dusting of chocolate powder. Eeewww.
OMG, you people are ridiculous. Seriously, aren't there some starving seals or something somewhere you can get all up in arms about? :whatever:I think this just demonstrates that progressives are insane. I'm not using the word as a descriptive label. I mean that progressives are really insane. they are not capable of thinking like normal people.

I can only wallow in the DU cesspool of hate for short periods of time. They live every day consumed by hate and fantasies of murder. They are unable to function in a normal society.
You forget that we were all raised on American chocolate. You must be an illegal alien. That's a Yankee thing.
Here is the luminary. No seriously, check out the name of the link to her picture...it says "/luminaries/" before her name.

Coconut :puke:My sentiments exactly.
That's a Yankee thing.
Wait a minute.
Miskie, you didn't just do that, did you?
Tell me you didn't do that. :lmao:
My sentiments exactly.
The only way she should be considered a "luminary" would be if she set herself on fire. :fuelfire:

The coconut ones totally rule. Hard to find sometimes, though.
From post 33...
"In hopes of derailing this thread further, Ginger and Mary Ann used coconut shells as impromptu brassieres."
They wore those, and panties that were in a twist !

When I first saw the coconut M&M, I expected it to have an actual coconut center, like with those crispy ones. Instead, it's just coconut flavored.Bought the bon-bons before you knew what was in them.
This might be one of the most amusing threads of all time, thanks for the chuckles my friends!Great, here, you eat this milk-chocolate piece of crap.

82. Really??? Green M&M is not ashamed of her ROUND shape!!!
Last edited Thu May 17, 2012, 11:21 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)
Odd, why not celebrate the fact that green M&M is not ashamed of her ROUND shape? Green seems to me to be the poster candy for body acceptance. She is proud and empowered and comfortable with her curve… not like those fake airbrushed anorexic twizzlers.
How exactly does one denote GENDER in a sexless candy cartoon icon that has no genitalia, without some level of sexualized imagery? I mean it’s not like that slapped a big set of boobs on her or gave her a candy toe... she has bigger lips and slightly differently shaped eyes.
On a more serious note...
I suspect that if Green M&M was exactly the same as the other M&Ms, save for having a female voice, someone would be complaining about the demonization of femininity by the hatemongers at M&M. Because somebody is just looking for attention by complaining about something asinine.
For ****’s sake, how long before we see these idiots arguing that healthy attractive people have to be forced to gain weight and ugly up… so that fat ugly people don’t have their self-esteem threatened?
"Whaaa yesterday in the park I saw some healthy attractive person jogging… now I'm aware I'm fat and unpleasant looking. Those good looking people are promoting an unrealistic standard, and should have to wear berkas, so I can continue to delude myself into thinking a 64 inch waistline is sexy."

There are some coconuts hidden throughout this thread.
Are they being carried by an African or European swallow, perhaps? Are they EVER !
Are they being carried by an African or European swallow, perhaps?
well it would have to be an African swallow. It's a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut.

Right! If that's the way you want it - Cardinal! Poke her with the soft cushions! Confess! Confess! Confess!
It doesn't seem to be hurting her, my lord.
Have you got all the stuffing up one end?
Oh, you think you are strong because you resisted the soft cushions! Cardinal! Bring out the comfy chair!

Confess the heinous sin of heresy, reject the works of the ungodly -- *two* last chances. And you shall be free -- *three* last chances. You have three last chances, the nature of which I have divulged in my previous utterance.
I suppose we make it worse by shouting a lot, do we? Confess, woman. Confess! Confess! Confess! Confess
"Old Nick the sea captain was a rough, tough, jolly sort of fellow. He loved the life of the sea, and he loved to hang out down by the pier, where the men dressed as ladies..."
Mmmmmm . . . I love eating the coconut shreds right out of the bag. A couple of weeks ago, after BBQing, we toasted marshmallows and then rolled them in coconut shreds and dark chocolate chips -- freaking amazing!! Total sugar OD but worth it!
That sounds delicious and decadent and I have to try it.
I wonder how they would be dipped in some M&Ms, too. Don't you just love the charring on the outside of the marshmallow and the gooiness on the inside? They taste very different, don't they, when toasted as opposed to untoasted. Or maybe it's that melted creamy texture underneath the outer char....

Oh FFS...we all knew the joke about the secret powers of the green M&M when I was a kid and wayyyy before the Mars candy company started going along with the gag.
I used to eat green m&m's to get excited. Now I just look at red heads :-)
You think just looking at a red head gets you excited...wait until you marry one! :naughty:

Had to pick up a couple of things at the grocery store today, saw this in the ice cream section:

I'm pretty sure I saw an Almond Joy version as well.

This is almost as funny as the Dr. Pepper Ten whining. My daughter loves the M&M characters. I find nothing wrong with them. I'm glad M&M's finally brought some female candies into the advertising. It was only male characters for the longest time. The commercials are more humorous now.
I'm pretty sure I saw an Almond Joy version as well.
Oh, why do you torment me so?
I haven't seen any of the brands in my ice cream aisle. :( Sure would like to try the Mounds one. (But I bet BEG wouldn't touch them with a 10 ft pole. :fuelfire:)
I say we stand with our favorite candies and put them in as our avatars until the DU oppression ends.
