Military fakers will be a very common phenomenom for the foreseeable future....
   Advertisements [?]

...wannabes and fakers acquiring some Stolen Valor for themselves in an attempt to become the badasses they never were. Look for the following:

1. Fake SEALS announcing that they had any number of evil doers in their sites and were prevented from pulling the trigger by "bullshit Washington red tape."

2. Ex-PFCs declaring that they were on a top secret CIA mission to bury Saddam's WMDs.

3. A few servicemembers sporting a garden salad of unearned gongs (medals) including Distinguished Service Crosses, Silver Stars and Bronze Stars (the Medal of Honor is scrupiously tracked and in only a handful of cases involve the illegal wearing or claim of the medal).

4. Men declaring in a bar that they were Marine snipers and have 1000 kills to their credit (clue, snipers rarely if ever talk about their missions).

Fortunately, there are a number of organizations that track down the fakers, confront them and make them confess to their egregious sins.

7. For anyone that had actuall been there they were very easy to discredit.
Only need to ask a very few questions and they expose themselves..

In the submarine Navy I was in, no medals were awarded because they would be a dead giveaway of where the sub had been. It is part of where the Silent Service got it's name. Nowadays I see all kinds of fruit salad on even the lower (E-3) sub rates.

After Tommy boy is gone they are all over this subject.

Word went out from Skins to try to rewrite the history of the DUmp?

There was an article in today's Omaha World Hearlad about fakers and the groups trying to catch them. They should do more to punish those that go beyond the lies and bar room tales. Sadly as we have seen, DU is all to willing to support any fakes no matter how bad they get unless they cause Skinner to have to use the granite hammer and ban them for hating Jews.

It's got to be killing TiT just staring in at that post from the outside and not getting to comment on it.

Hey TiT you can always come here and talk about what you're no longer allowed to at the DUmp.

I call bullshit on that.  Maybe HE didn't have any medals because he was a non-qual POS.

Oh, and FWIW, they don't dish out too many Bronze Stars and Purple Hearts on the boats.  Just sayin.  And just because I've got a couple of NUC's (Navy Unit Commendations) and MUC's (Meritorious Unit Commendations) to go along with other stuff like my Navy Expeditionary Medal, etc., doesn't mean it's a "dead giveaway" of where we've been.  Only your big ****ing mouth is the dead giveaway, poseur.

I think what the DUmmies are trying to do here is blunt any adoration of the soldiers coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan with a chet full of hard earned medals on their chest and combat patches and service bars on their sleeves.

It's easy for them to dismiss us if they say all of us with our awards and stories of what we did while we were there as nothing more than "stolen valor".

Then they don't have to face the reality that even the soldier who only left outside the wire a couple times in 15 months is still better than they are...having spent the last 8 years trashing what we were/are doing in the WoT.

No shit, awards for valor or service give NOTHING away about where one was, the awards themselves are generic and service-wide.  Campaign awards are another matter but encompass entire theaters or operations (or types of operations).  Though I don't have any classified citations myself, I have had SF friends who did have awards, but the actual citations were classified - they could wear them, and had them on their 214s, but the reasons they had been awareded and exactly where and how they were earned were not publicly accessible.

Bingo.  Usually any unit awards or individual awards we got, if they mentioned any op at all, were the generic "mission of vital importance to the security of the United States".  Hell, even the guys who "crossed the line" (Equator) on the boat (I did mine while on Proteus) had "Classified" put in the Longitude of where they crossed.

Methinks the submariner in question never went out on an op, if in fact he's not TiT Jr.

Your typical DU liberal doesn't understand valor any more than they do honor, integrity and loyalty.

They lack what it takes to actually exhibit any.  So of course they want to mock or denigrate those that have been legitimately awarded for such actions.

Was this primitive anywhere to be seen when TiT was making up his lies and broadcasting them?  No.  Nothing worse than faux outrage.

TRG is right, this is nothing more than "these soldiers are covering for Bush"  and/or "these soldiers don't like Obama so they're trashing how the war is being executed" cover.

Could it be a sockpuppet?  If so, it's an awfully good one.
