Hi... My name is Vaela, I'm 20 years old. I am extremely liberal but I have recently been wanting to have a really good, deep conversation with someone who actually DISAGREES with me. All of my friends are liberal, too, and that's fine but it gets old always agreeing with everyone.... I would really love to have an intelligent discussion with a conservative who has an open mind like mine, so we can maybe learn more about each other as people...you know?

I'm so sorry if I'm intruding here. I have been searching all night for a place to find someone who will intelligently debate with me! I have resorted to conservative forums! I promise I'm not trying to stir up any trouble, I just am craving a good debate/conversation with someone with differing opinions!

I am an atheist, I am pansexual (basically a lesbian but I'm engaged to a man), and I support President Obama.

I love my country and I love all of its citizens even if we disagree, and I just want to make 2012 a better year where we are less divided. I want to hear your side of the story personally and I want you to hear mine... I just really, REALLY would be so appreciative if you would give me a chance...

I just really want a debate...I've been on omegle for hours trying to find someone to talk to me. It's really depressing! I hate being surrounded by people who agree with me 24/7. I want to have an open-minded discussion, you know? So frustrating! I'm hoping I can find mutual respect here!

I will admit, that quip about admitting I have a problem was pretty funny. Kudos.

If you want a place to start, I too am an atheist, and my wife is a born-again Southern Baptist - has been for 32 years now. But I'm also a very pro-life conservative. Because of Obama's past and current associations and his performance in office, I find him very frightening.

I suggest starting a couple of threads on topics of interest to you.

That's really cool that an atheist and a Baptist can be married. I love that kind of thing. I just want to make the country less divided.

I'm really searching for a real-time debate, I'm not having much success, it's really quite sad. I don't want to just talk to people who will reiterate my own opinions. Blah! Omegle is just full of people hitting on me. Facebook is full of liberal friends of mine., I just want to chat with a conservative! I want to open my mind a little bit! So frustrating!

I'm sick of being in a society where it's "I HATE LIBS" or "I HATE CONSERVATIVES" No. I don't hate anyone! We just disagree, and if we could all just have calm discussions...I think we'd be much happier.

I don't know if my opinions will change, but I hope to be more tolerant of conservatives in my daily life by understanding them better through debate. That is my main intention. I want to come to a place where we are all equal and respectful.

i agree ijust saw a poll that said america is 2 to 1 conservative. if everyone could just settle down and have these "calm discussions" i'm willing to bet it would be 99 to 1. so it'd be ironic "We are the true 99%"

We don't hate much of anyone here...but we do make fun of some liberals and the huge gaps we notice in their logic.  Maybe you should look around a little, jump into a few threads with interesting subjects.  Just don't "poop and swoop," stick around in a thread and defend your position logically, factually, and fairly politely.   :-)

I'd suggest you start off by viewing his 1964 speech, "A Time For Choosing."  Look at what he said nearly 50 years ago, and how much has come true today, if not made worse.

If you are really looking for a discussion then you are not an extreme liberal.

Extreme liberals see conservatives as evil, and seek to deny all speech but their own. An extreme lib is all for denying rights guaranteed in the constitution like freedom pof speech, press, assembly, religion, and the right to own guns. They tend to propose rule by an elite few, not by the people. Extreme liberals are one party rule to the point of toltalitarianism.

If that is not you, then you are not extreme.

I am concerned that you are posting your personal information online. Use the edit key and REMOVE your email. This is an open board and can be read by anyone, members or not. Offering your phone online to strangers is foolishness and invites trouble.

Open a thread and start a test debate. If you are as open and polite as you are now, then you will have your discussion. make sense?
