Welcome!!

Just for clarification, just because one moves to Texas doesn't make them a "Texan".....

Wacko, Texas!

I had the best chicken-fried steak of my LIFE in Whacko. And this was right down the road from the VA, where there are definitely some great people taking care of vets who really need that care.

Trying to think of where you ate, but Waco has changed so much in the years since I lived there.  We went to the  Elite Cafe (on the circle) a lot for their chicken fried chicken, and out to Leslie's chicken shack for fried chicken. That place closed a long time ago though.

I student taught in Lorena, TX.  That was quite an experience :).

I couldn't tell you where that place was -- except in Waco. That was back in 1982 (when I still had brain cells).  :lmao:

No, I haven't been a member of that site.  I was a member at some other political forum a couple of years ago (can't remember the name), but got banned for beating arguing too strenuously with the local liberals.  Most of the mods were liberals, so I didn't stand much of a chance.  Other than that - all my other discussion forums are hobby-related (hunting, weight lifting, etc...)

Thanks for the welcome!  Yes, I think we're going to get a break this weekend, though, when the high Saturday is supposed to be 99.

I am cracking up about that, because if we hit 100+ that day, then we set a new record.  Otherwise, nothing!  I don't need to start over though.   :-)

I'm up by Lake Texoma.

I've caught two limits of striper there, both within 2 hours of stepping on the boat.  I like that lake.

Athens is nice.  My brother lives in Tyler.  I'd like to move there if ever I could find a similar position there.  I miss the trees.

Yeah, that is some pretty land out that way.  I would love to live out there, near the Piney Woods.

Palestine, Texas!

Ah- not too far from where I grew up (Kilgore).  My aunt and uncle live in Nacogdoches, so we go through Palestine when driving from Midlothian.
