Palin is odds-on favorite to win 2012 GOP nomination

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is the front-runner to win the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, according to online oddsmakers.

Despite a slew of negative press this fall about Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) running mate, online gaming site Superbook.com puts Palin’s odds at 3.5-1, the best among Republican hopefuls.

Other top GOP contenders include former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, whose odds are set at 4-1, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, at 5-1.

Former Rep. Bobby Jindal (R-La.), who is now governor of Louisiana, has a 6-1 shot of claiming the nomination.

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford and former Speaker Newt Gingrich (Ga.) are each listed at 12-1 to win the Republican nomination on Superbook.com.

And the "experience" argument the liberals kept bringing up, while shoddy to begin with, will be completely baseless by then, especially if Kennedy does end up as senator.

I'm not ready to predict that yet.

It's just punishment for Coleman being a RINO such as he is, no way would a true conservative lose his seat.

I firmly believe that you have to hit rock bottom before you can pull yourself up. I think the GOP needed to be purged and I also think the Republicans will come back better and stronger because of it.

No kidding, the conservatives have to get back on message and stop their reaching across the aisle. Things deteriorated when we tried to play honorably with dishonorable people.

My night would be complete if you would simply press the shift key at the beginning of sentences and for proper nouns.

We have Jindal for a long long time. Probably 30 years or better. The dude is only 36, right?

I never said we didn't need the moderate vote, we just don't need moderate candidates... a subtle but distinct difference. Besides moderates are nothing but apolitical people who vote based on the message that has mass appeal.

Reagan managed to get the moderate vote in two landslide elections and he was far from moderate.

(as you command)

I think that Sarah Palin would make a great candidate.  I also thing that Bobby Jindal would be FANTASTIC.

If I had my choice, it would be a Palin/Jindal ticket.

It's a little early to be talking about this, imo. And she does not have much of a lead over either Romeny or Jindal.

I agree - I think the point of such an early prediction is to get us to eat our own before the primaries even begin.

I'm with you on your reasoning.  A severely weakened GOP slate would do any Dem good, and the one way to weaken it is to get them to spend money going after each other.  Look at what the Ford-Reagan infighting in the primaries did in 1976, and the Kennedy-Carter infighting did in 1980.

Obama has not taken office yet, however he has backed away from pretty much his entire platform causing anger and outrage with the progressive left.    The same occurred with Billy-Jeff with DADT, but they still voted for him in the next election.

Obama is already campaining for 2012.    He is turning himself into a moderate.    I think the GOP better tread very carefully going forward, and certainly not make any decisions about who is best suited to win (and that is the candidate I want to see) at this early in the game.

I like Palin a great deal, but she has a lot of heavy duty grooming to be done by the RNC before she could pull off the nomination.

I agree, the infighting has to stop.   Obama is the obvious nomination for 2012, so it is all clear sailing for him.   What happened in  the last primaries cannot happen again.

I think the GOP will do fine as a minority party. That's when the party seems to find its balls. Notice the great moves after the Dems won the house and Senate in '06. They need to win back the house and senat in 10 and KEEP their balls. That's quite a tall order for the repubs, especially the "keeping their balls" part...

God alone suffices.

I think Formerlurker has a very good point.  I think the Obamasissia is as much a cynical manipulator as Billy Jeff Too.   One doesn't reach the purple the way they did without having a very good understanding of how they got there.

  • The hard left dummies are tools to be used and thrown away
  • They can change on a dime to achieve goals if they think it will help them.  Remember Sam Irvin was a hero to the left  during the Nixon impeachment years.
  • even when they are angry, they will show up, unlike conservatives

Now for Barry, he just need to copy the Clinton playbook, which to a large degree he already has, by bringing in their people.   Hillary is to be pushed under the bus sooner rather than later.

As for his socialist agenda, Bush has already achieved all that for him.  He just needs to consolidate the gains.   Like Stalin, he can use a NEP period to work in the background in the Justice department and the military, and let the economy go.  The best way to do that is to drop all his economic proposals behind the desk and let things roar for a while.  Then when the Dummies make a lot of racket, he can do his Rhoem/Trotsky purge to the cheers of all the clueless moderates who put him in office.

As to Palin in 2012, by then it will be too late.  Not for her, but for the country.   I think she could win in a heartbeat, if the election were to be held.

The republicans, when elected, seem to fast go over ripe. Rather than stick to principle, they seem to behave in a way designed to curry favor with the "D" elites and the MSM elites. Forgetting that they HATE "R"'s no matter what.

Any "R' needs to eschew "Beltway" popularity, legislative "pork" and DO THE NATION's business as descrobed in the Constitution. That's the road to effectiveness and re election.

Proof? MSM backed McCain, until there was a "D" nominee to back, that he was a product of the nations most currupt political machine and was/is utterly unqualified (except for having exceeded 35) to be president of anything marttered not, after all, he's a "D"!
