The Obama administration announced today that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who has been held by the Taliban for several years, has been freed from his captors. Reading the stories of his newfound freedom it is impossible not to feel joy for Bergdahl and his family. NBC News reports that Bergdahl held up a sign once he was on board an American helicopter that read, “SF?†The operators quickly confirmed that they were in fact U.S. Special Forces: “Yes, we’ve been looking for you for a long time.â€
“On behalf of the American people, I was honored to call his parents to express our joy that they can expect his safe return, mindful of their courage and sacrifice throughout this ordeal,†President Obama said in a statement. The president rightly noted: “Sergeant Bergdahl's recovery is a reminder of America's unwavering commitment to leave no man or woman in uniform behind on the battlefield.â€
Unfortunately, America is not the only party in this war that is committed to leaving no man behind. So are the Taliban and other al Qaeda-linked groups. But the president did not say who America exchanged for Bergdahl: five of the most dangerous Taliban commanders in U.S. custody.

His dad also called for the release of all Guantanamo prisoners.
And he disappeared under very suspect circumstances.
So, it looks like we may have traded 5 Taliban commanders for a traitor.
You really should have some solid evidence before you accuse an American soldier and POW of being a trader.
His dad sounds like a hippy. I wonder why he even joined in the first place.
From the beginning, Bowe Bergdahl was not your conventional US Army Sergeant.
Traveling extensively and trained in ballet, he had sailed across the Atlantic by his late teens, but was home-schooled in a small town in Idaho with a population of about 8,000.
His friends say he enlisted in the army to help the Afghan people and provide philanthropic support to the war effort.
Bergdahl told his parents he was 'ashamed to even be American'.
Bergdahl told his parents he was 'ashamed to even be American'....Moochelle's long lost brother.

"From the beginning, Bowe Bergdahl was not your conventional US Army Sergeant."
He trained in ballet and sailing and was known for his manners and practical jokes - but did Bowe Bergdahl really desert his army post out of protest?

It appears that Bowe Bergdahl enlisted for a philanthropic reason.
Sounds like a moonbat to me.
