Apparently verse 110 goes onto say, "If only the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient." Why not just leave it as, "muslims are the best etc etc"? Instead it's gotta say that muslims are the best, Jews and Christians are the worst. Then the next 10 verses talks about how you can't trust people of the scripture and how they're evil.... among other things, that concept reinforces the idea of best vs worst, which is counter to the idea of "many shades of gray." So the world becomes black and white, good and evil, no room for ambivalence.
