I'm keeping it out of the kitchen for now.  I had to live with a female cat that wasn't spayed.  What a monster.  I'll never do that again.  I called a nearby vet... it's $60 for a checkup and tests. I'll stop by on Saturday.

I don't think he's big enough to reach the toilet paper roll.  I did leave some "toys" in there with him.  A half-full bottle of fiber pills (it rattles :-)), a ball, a knotted-up terrycloth, and a small cardboard box.

I have no idea what I'm doing.

Not to worry, they are quite good at training their "parents".
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

You have a cat, you don't own it, it owns you. Enjoy.

BTW I have an orange tabby, Tigoo, by name. He is, by all accounts, a glorious bastard.   :lmao:

You are doing a great job Chris. I would suggest a scratching post so he scratches that and not your furniture. If you have plants, get some cat grass as a deterrent(At your local Walmart in the pet department :-)). get a stuffed mouse if you can. Jingles has one that she loves, loves, loves!!

Already got a scratching post.  It seems to be avoiding me right now.

Time to change the litter box.  Phew.

Everything in my apartment is pretty much cat-proof as it is.  Scratchy surplus office chairs and a sofa that is older than I am, wooden desks, and metal tables.

Have you picked him up and cuddle with him yet??? you mentioed once you were tall. If he is small enough , put him on your shoulder and scratch behind his ears. Walk around the room and reassure him. And give him a name!!!

He barely lets me touch him.  I haven't tried to pick him up yet.

In addition to your scratching post, you might want to get a cardboard scratcher.  I have some cats that use only the post, others that are exclusive to the scratcher, and one that doesn't care which one he uses, so long as he gets to scratch something.

He (I think I saw a set of berries down there) used the scratching post to scratch himself with.  It's the other way around, dummy!

He seems to understand 'no'.  I picked him up and the claws came out, so I put him back down.

He's really skinny and has these hollow areas on his body.  It looks a little disturbing.

That's why his turds stink so badly -- he's been eating bugs and snails and all manner of stuff besides regular cat food, which gives his turds a DIFFERENT kinda stink.

Load him up -- feed him plenty. He'll love you long time.  :rotf:

He tore into the cat toy I bought for him.  There's not much left of it, but I wore him out yesterday.

He's discovered chairs.  Now he likes to sit up high and watch everything.

A wadded up foil ball makes a good free cat toy.

My latest adoptee, a girl, doesn't like being picked up at all.  She's very affectionate if I pet her while she just sits/lays there.  He may never be a cuddler.  Oh Frank, her name is Ellie.  Don't you have an Ellie?

Someone had their first accident.

I made the mistake of vacuuming the living room.  Cat immediately pinched a loaf on the carpet.

Yeah.  Oops.

He's lounging on one of the extra chairs here.  I guess he's okay now.  Good think I always keep a box of latex gloves around, mostly for auto repair and cleaning.

He didn't eat as much today but he's looking a little better.  Maybe that's why he was so fussy yesterday, because  I didn't re-fill his food bowl.  There was still a little left.  Play time was okay.  I tried to convince him a rattle made a good toy but he didn't go for it; he still prefers the thing-on-a-stick.

His teeth are very tiny.  You can barely see them, which is okay with me.  He hasn't tried to bite me.

And I have no clue what to do with the thing.

Bad timing... the property manager is inspecting units tomorrow and I do not have a pet deposit which is at least $300.  I'm not sure I want to let this thing loose in my apartment because I may never find it again.  I'm no judge of cats, but it looks less than a year old.  Doesn't seem to be feral or violent (yet).

Looks like a little orange and white tabby.

Lawn mower and shovel come to mind.
