Wait, you started a thread about a rice cooker that was still in the box?  I would have at least tried it out a couple of times. :lmao:

Your rice cooker, she should know some recipes.  Send her to the store.
If only I was married. Life would be perfect. There would always be someone there to give me foot massages and get between the toes. Gals just live for that.
Oh and they love to say things like, "Can I get you another beer, master?"

Yep. here I am at 54...I mastered boiling water years ago. I can fry eggs. I can mostly break the eggs without breaking the yolk. and now I shall soon master the rice cooker.

OK, the rice is cooking. Just a cup. I feel like such a cook now. Wow. If we ever do a get together I'm bring the rice dish. I pushed the cook button and it will auto shut off. Then I have to let it sit for 15 minutes.

I can see why instant rice was invented. But now I am Mannn the great cook....
WAIT! I wonder if I could cook spaghetti in it? this is really versatile.

LOL.

What kind of rice cooker did you get?  There are dozens of models out there.  We have a cheap microwave job that my wife really likes to use.

I'm not a big rice fan myself.

Yup...  That is exactly what it is used for.

Add water and rice.  Microwave for about 20 minutes and done.

She even uses it to make sticky rice for sushi.

For about $30 you can get a steamer to cook whole meals. Veggies , rice or tatters and meats.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

OK, final report.
I ate some rice. and then smashed it flat like a pancake on the plate. I put ground beef on top and pressed it into the rice. On top of that I added 8 oz of sharp cheddar cheese. nuke.

instant casserole! ate it all. yum.
cooking is a lot easier than I thought.

The good thing is you can use leftover plain rice (refrigerated) for sushi or fried rice the next day.  It's pretty easy.  Brown some meat and onions in a pan and throw in rice and soy sauce.  Scrambled eggs are optional.

Are you talking about the Knorr products?

Our local stores just started to carry this again. The Knorr products are pretty good, I found these to be better.

looks interesting. How do you add the flavor to the rice? Do you just toss it in the cooker with the water or add it after the rice is cooked?

Mix a little base with hot water to dissolve then add it to the rest of the water inside the cooker prior to using the microwave.

You might need to do some tweeking until you perfect the flavor...

We love that stuff.  Been using it for over a year.  I like to make a cup of the beef broth and sip it out on the porch during cool weather or when I'm not feeling well.
