The past couple of weeks, it's happened that once Firefox reaches a certain web-site--most particularly juno or conservativecave--it crashes.

Thereupon immediately follows a little screen advising one it has crashed, and asking if one wants the session "restored," or a new session "started."  I always go for the first option, and it re-starts, after which there are no more problems.

Is this because I'm not using the current Firefox, but rather whatever version Firefox had when I first got this computer three years ago?

I've been asked to "update" several times, but always ignored it because whatever version it is I have is fine with me.  I don't want any more toys, bells, whistles, bright lights, gimmicks.

I know there's many here who don't like Firefox, but generally overall I prefer Firefox over Explorer, and am reluctant to try the faddish browser-of-the-week.  It's like a pair of old shoes; if one's comfortable with them, one wears them until they wear out.

Your browser shouldn't crash just because you are running an older version,although trying the update can't hurt.

I'm not a computer guru but your problem sounds like a memory problem. try adjusting amount of memory allocate to cache and see if that helps.

I'm just guessing,not knowing your system and I don't run Firefox much. I use explorer (very little) and primarily Chrome.

Firefox 11 is not compatable with Adobe Flash Player; it will crash. I just rolled back to v. 10 and everything works. You might check to see if your add-ons are up to date.

I had the same problems with Firefox. I kicked it out of my house and went to Chrome. No more problems.

I've had some problems with Chrome crashing, but it's usually my fault.  Sometimes opening several pages with autorun videos will make it crash, or at least time out on a couple of pages.

The only time Safari crashed on me was an outdated version of Javascript when I tried to use Twitter.

Firefox always crashed and froze my system.

Your solution appears to have worked the past several days, even though I didn't update firefox.

Stupid question.

What is "Adobe Flash Player" used for?

I update Adobe as instructed when instructed, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what "Adobe Flash Player" is used for; I've never seen it in action on this computer.

Your post will not go in flames into obscurity without me commenting how clever, and not enough off subject to de rail the thread. All in all a much appreciated post. At least by me. Oh how those other guys ignoring it was so uncalled for.

+1  And maybe I'm just an idiot, but I can't seem to find a quick way to transfer all of my bookmarks to Safari - not to mention I still can't get Safari to do all of the video stuff I was able to with Firefox 10.x.
