Republicans don't want tax cuts in stimulus!

Yes. Republicans are against tax cuts. Or so, the New York Times would have you believe.

Quote
The Senate plan, reached in an agreement late Friday between Democrats and three moderate Republicans, focuses somewhat more heavily on tax cuts, provides far less generous health care subsidies for the unemployed and lowers a proposed increase in food stamps.

To help allay Republican concerns about the cost, the Senate proposal even scales back President Obama’s signature middle-class tax cut. The Senate plan also creates $30 billion in tax incentives to encourage Americans to buy homes and cars within the next year.

Republican opponents continued to rail against the stimulus plan on the Senate floor on Saturday, though it appeared they would not have the votes to stop it.

I read the article up to the point I have quoted but did not read further. I may well be mistaken but in any case there is no point in trying to read further once your head has exploded.

 :whatever:

Really. WTF? Who are they kidding? Who are they fooling?
"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed."

The NT Times doesn't have a lot of credibility these days.  There is a reason why there readership is in the toilet.

Mabye so.

But lots and lots and lots of regional and local newspapers carry their wire feeds, as well as the biased Associated Press.

So their advocacy/adversary journalism, as well as outright lies, gets to a lot of people who may not follow politics as closely as some of us or others like us.

Thus, the infection of the NYT still spreads.

May its doors close today.
"It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ! For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity and freedom of worship here." -- Patrick Henry, 1765

And that's the reason that after 50+ years of reading "The Charlotte Observer", I stopped taking it.
