Look up L Ron Hubbard. He wrote the books on Scientology

Thor, I have read just about everything that man has written as far as SI-FI but trying to get ahold of any on the ways, hows or whys of this so called faith are extremely difficult to find.

The Wikipedia entry on Scientology seems pretty informative and contains a lot of links to articles about the religion.

No,no. Dianetics is just the free sample. To really get high off of the Hubsters religious teachings you have to fork over a ton of dough, go through some deprogramming and sign a confidentiality and non disclosure statement.

The only facts anyone needs to know about this cult is that it's a huge money making machine for whoever runs the show now.

Damn! I'm so jealous.

If someone uncovers the truth it can be printed in a newspaper without worry. The Supreme Court ruled in the early 80's that the media is protected from prosecution for what government secrets they print, even if they acquired the documents illegally. Yes, it did say that. I assume this would apply to a so-called "religion" as well.

The Hubster was a Sci-Fi writer. Most of his junk was written during WWII when he was serving in the Navy. How he transmorgified a B movie plot into his own money press is where his true genius shines through.

Maybe he used the Koran as cliff notes.

I agree.....I've enjoyed his SF work, but started Dianetics, and found it basically unreadable (they bought a ton of television advertising for it however, those spots seemed to run for years) ........I think he is the ultimate "snake oil salesman"..........

Got a mailing piece from the "Scientologists" a number of years ago, and I remember that it read like a sales brochure for a series of "self-help/self esteem seminars".......and they wanted money, and lots of it.

He also lived with Jack Parsons of JPL fame attempting some complicated ritual before running off to Florida with Parsons' wife.

JPL=Jet Propulsion Laboratory 

Affectionately called "Jack Parsons' Lab" as he was one of the co-founders.

Just search on "jack parsons" and "l. ron hubbard."

I originally read about it some ages ago in some obscure magazine or maybe even a bio of  Elron Hu.
