Just proof that Colin Powell never learned how to tell when someone was blowing smoke up his ass. Usually you learn that no later than the time you finish company command.

Why anyone has regarded him as any kind of Republican since Bush's first term is a mystery to me.  This isn't even primarily a race vote, he's just a mainstream Democrat.

He was pro-gun control and pro-choice, and aligned with several other Democrat planks, since well before the first Obama endorsement.  He was basically a 'Republican' only as long as he could cash it in for a political appointment.  More unethical opportunist than racist.
